Case TR340 Track Loader Troubleshooting

The Case TR340 compact track loader driveline system components: a 207 cu.in (3.4L) FPT F5B FL413E 4-cylinder turbocharged diesel engine with a rated power of 86 hp (64 kW) and hydrostatic transmission. The hydraulic system has a gear pump with a rated flow of 24.2 gpm (91.5 lpm). The system pressure is 3050 psi (210 bar). The Case TR340 is equipped with a planetary gearbox with 2-speed motor, dozer-style undercarriage, and 17.7" (450 mm) rubber tracks. The loader has a maximum lift height of 126.5" (3220 mm) to hinge pin and dump height of 102.4" (2600 mm). The rated operating capacity is 2380 lbs (1080 kg), and tipping load is 6800 lbs (3084 kg).

Engine Troubleshooting

Engine difficult to start or doesn't start

Air in fuel tank - Bleed fuel tank.
Fuel filter plugged - Clean or change the filter.
Fuel injection nozzles are faulty or clogged - Replace injection nozzles.
Water or dirt in fuel system - Drain, flush, and service the system.
The valve clearance is not adjusted - Check and adjust as required.
Fuel injection pump malfunctioning - Replace injection pump or repair it.

Engine starts and stops suddenly

Air filter is plugged - Replace or clean air filter element.
Fuel filter element is clogged - Change filter element.
Poor fuel injection pump tightness - Look for any leaks of fuel pump, tighten it fast.

Defective fuel injection pump - Repair or replace injection pump.

Engine stalls after running

Engine has not warmed up to recommended temperature - Warm up to required temperature.
Fuel filter plugging - Clean or change the filter.
Air trapped in fuel system - Bleed air.
Fuel injection nozzles fault - Service or change injection nozzles.
Fuel injection pump timing is not adjusted - Check the fuel injection pump timing adjustment.

Engine stalls when idle

Machine won't drive straight or drives jerkily

Track mechanism is defective or jammed - Fix jamming or repair tracks.
Faulty or loose tracks - Adjust track tension or repair tracks.
Foreign objects, debris, or dirt stuck in track frame - Clean track frame, remove debris and foreign objects.

Low power

Hydraulic oil filter is plugged - Replace or service hydraulic filter.
Open or faulty relief valve - Close or replace relief valve.
Transmission components are defective or worn - Inspect and change faulty parts.
Input drive shaft is stuck - Replace drive shaft.
Hydraulic system is leaking air - Bleed hydraulic system.

Drive system overheats

Hydraulic pump makes excessive noise

Suction line clogging - Service the suction line.
Air enters the pump - Air bleeding is required.

Electrical Troubleshooting

Battery is not charging

Loose or corroded electrical wiring connections - Tighten or clean electrical wiring connections.
Battery terminal clamps are faulty - Replace terminal clamps.
Battery bad cell - Battery change required.
Loose or worn belt - Replace belt or adjust belt tension.

Starter turning slow

Battery capacity is low - Battery needs to be recharged.
Battery won’t hold charge - Battery needs to be serviced or replaced.

Starter will not crank

Battery is discharged or defective - Charge or replace the battery.
