John Deere 4500 Maintenance Intervals

Every 10 Hours or Daily

Engine oil level checking. If after checking the engine oil level is low, top it up.

Check the transmission/hydraulic oil level. When transmission/hydraulic oil is low, fill in new oil.

Check engine primary/secondary air filters. Replace if necessary.

Check engine coolant level. If the coolant level is low, top it up.

Check engine idling, steering, service brakes and hand brake. Repair any damage if necessary.

Every 50 Hours

Check tire pressure. If necessary, inflate the tires.

Test battery charging. If the charge level is low, charge the battery.

Check front axle oil level. Add if required.

Check the oil in hydraulic tank. If necessary, add hydraulic oil to the system.

Lubricate the front axle bearing assembly.

Tighten wheel bolts and nuts.

Every 200 hours

Changing engine oil. Recommended motor oil type - Plus-50, SAE 15W-40, 10W-30, 5W-30. API Service Classification SG or higher. How much is required: Oil System Capacity - 4.8 L (1.26 gal). Add oil to the upper mark on the dipstick.

Oil filter changing. Oil filter part number: M806419. Clean the filter housing from dirt before replacing the filter element. After replacing the filter, check the oil level. Add oil if required.

Change transmission/hydraulic oil. Transmission/hydraulic fluid type - Low Viscosity Hy-Gard, JDM J20D or J20C. Transmission/Hydraulic System Capacity: Gear Transmission - 26 L (6.9 gal), Hydrostatic Transmission - 33.2 L (8.8 gal). Fill with the new transmission/hydraulic fluid up to the upper notch on the dipstick.

Transmission/hydraulic oil filter replacement. Transmission/hydraulic oil filter part number: LVA10419. After replacing the filter, check the transmission/hydraulic oil level. If necessary, add it.

Clean radiator surface from dirt.

Inspect the fan/alternator belt and if it is worn, replace it.

Check the tightening torque of the hub bolts.

Every 500 Hours

Replace engine fuel filter. Fuel filter part number - T111383. Check injection pump settings.

Check engine primary air filter element. Change if necessary. Air filter part number - M131802.

Inspect engine secondary air filter element. Replace as required. Part number - M131803.

Check the coolant in radiator. Add coolant if necessary.

Check engine idle. Adjust engine idle if necessary.

Check the tubes and hoses. Tighten if necessary.

Change front axle lubricant.

Adjust parking and service brakes.

Change engine oil and filter. Service oil system components.

Change engine primary air filter and secondary air filter.

Change transmission/hydraulic fluid.

Change transmission/hydraulic filter.

Drain water from fuel tank, then replace the fuel filter.

Clean oil cooler fins and radiator.

Flush the cooling system and add new coolant. Cooling System Capacity - 6.8 L (1.8 gal).

Inspect all clamps hoses and hoses.

Check battery charge.

Check and adjust valve clearance.

Inspect and adjust diesel fuel pump.
