John Deere 4850 Maintenance Information

John Deere 4850 Periodic Maintenance

Every 10 Hours or Daily

Engine oil level checking. If the oil level is too low, fill in new oil.

Check the hydraulic/transmission fluid level. If hydraulic/transmission oil is too low, fill in new oil.

Check engine air filter elements. Replace with a new one if necessary.

Check the coolant level. If the coolant level is low, add it.

Check engine speed, steering, service brakes and hand brake. If you found a problem, fix it.

Every 50 Hours

Check tires and inflate if required.

Check the battery. Clean battery terminals if necessary.

Checking the oil in front axle. Add if required.

Check fluid in hydraulic system. Add oil to hydraulic system if necessary.

Lubricate rear and front axle hub bearings.

Check tractor for loose or lost nuts and screws.

Every 200 hours

Change engine oil. Recommended oil type - Torq-Gard, SAE 15W-40, 10W-30. API Service Category CD, CC, SD. How much is required: Oil System Capacity: 19.9 L (5.3 gal). When the procedure is complete, check the engine oil level.

Replace oil filter. Filter part number - DZ101880. Clean the filter housing from dirt before replacing the filter element. After installation, checking the oil level is recommended. If after checking the oil level is low, add it.

Cab air filter elements checking. Replace as required. Cab recirculation air filter part number: RE67830. Cab fresh air filter part number: R65450.

Clean the radiator grill from dirt and dust.

Inspect and adjust alternator/fan belt. Replace if belt is worn.

Check the tightening torque of the wheel bolts.

Every 400 Hours

Check engine primary air filter element. Clean as required. Replace annually and as required. Air filter part number - AR80652.

Inspect engine secondary air filter element. Clean as required. Replace annually and as required. Part number - AR80653.

Check fuel filter. Replace as required. Engine fuel filter part number: AR86745.

Check engine idle speed. Adjust if necessary.

Inspect all hoses and fittings. Tighten as recommended.

Check brake adjustment.

Every 600 Hours

Replace transmission/hydraulic oil. Recommended transmission/hydraulic fluid: Hy-Gard. Transmission/Hydraulic Fluid Capacity: 70.5 L (18.6 gal). Check transmission/hydraulic oil level after changing.

Change transmission/hydraulic filter. Filter element part number - AR94510. After installation, checking the transmission/hydraulic oil level is recommended. If after checking the hydraulic oil level is low, add it.

Change front axle fluid. Front Axle Oil: GL-5 Gear Lubricant, 85W-140. Front Axle Capacity: 9 L (9.5 qt).

Every 1200 Hours

Replace transmission/hydraulic charge pump suction screen. Part number - R53169/AR26375.

Replace transmission/hydraulic return oil manifold screen. Part number - R27173.

Check the coolant in cooling system. If coolant is low, top up.

Change engine oil and filter. Service lubricating system components.

Install a new engine air cleaner elements.

Install a new cab air filters.

Change hydraulic/transmission fluid.

Change hydraulic/transmission filters.

Drain water from fuel tank and change fuel filter.

Clean radiator and oil cooler fins.

Flush the cooling system and refill with fresh coolant. Cooling System Capacity: 30.3 L (8 gal).

Check all clamps hoses and hoses.

Check and service the battery.

Check and adjust valve clearance.

Inspect and adjust fuel injectors.
