John Deere 5045D Maintenance Information

John Deere 5045D Periodic Maintenance

Every 10 Hours or Daily

Check the engine oil level. If the engine oil level is low, add fresh oil.

Check transmission fluid level. When the transmission fluid is low, add fresh oil.

Checking air filter element. Change if required.

Check engine coolant level. If the coolant level is low, add it.

Check idle engine speed, steering, parking brake and service brakes. If damages are found, repair it.

Every 50 Hours

Check tyre pressure. If the tyre pressure is low, inflate the tyres.

Test battery charging. If the charge level is low, charge the battery.

Checking the oil in front axle. Add if required.

Check oil in hydraulic system. Add oil to hydraulic system if necessary.

Lubricate the front axle wheel bearings.

Inspect wheels and tighten bolts and nuts if necessary.

Every 250 hours

Replace engine oil. Recommended oil type: Plus 50 (15W-40). Engine oil capacity: 8.5 L (2.25 gal). After changing the oil, check the level with a dipstick.

Oil filter changing. Engine oil filter part number: RE519626. When change the filter, cleaning the housing is recommended. Check the oil level after installing a new filter. Add oil if it is low.

Replacing engine primary air filter elements. Air filter element part number: RE282286.

Check the engine secondary air filter and change if required. Part number: RE282287.

Remove dirt from radiator fins with a brush.

Check fan/alternator belt tension. Adjust if necessary.

Check the tightening torque of the wheel bolts.

Every 500 Hours

Change engine fuel filter. Fuel filter part number - RE60021. Check the efficiency of fuel injection pump.

Check the coolant in cooling system. If coolant is low, top up.

Check engine idling. If necessary, adjust the idle speed on the engine.

Inspect all hoses and fittings. Tighten if necessary.

Front axle lubricant change.

Check and adjust the service and parking brakes.

Engine oil filter. Part number: RE519626
Transmission/hydraulic oil filter. Part number: RE45864

Change engine oil and filter. Service lubricating system components.

Replace air cleaner elements.

Changing hydraulic/transmission oil. Recommended hydraulic/transmission oil: Hy-Gard, J20C or J20D. Oil capacity: 38 L (10 gal). After changing the hydraulic/transmission oil, check the level with a dipstick.

Replacing hydraulic/transmission fluid filter. Transmission/hydraulic fluid filter part number - RE45864. Check the fluid level after installing a new filter. Add fluid if required.

Drain water from fuel tank and replace fuel filters.

Clean radiator and oil cooler fins.

Flush the cooling system and refill with new coolant. Cooling system capacity: 9.5 L (2.5 gal).

Check all hoses and clamps.

Check and service the battery.

Adjust engine valve clearance.

Inspect and adjust diesel injection pump.
