John Deere 5105 Maintenance Information

John Deere 5105 Service Intervals

Every 10 Hours or Daily

Check the engine oil level. If the engine oil level is low, add fresh oil.

Check hydraulic/transmission fluid level. If the hydraulic/transmission fluid is too low, add it.

Checking engine primary/secondary air filters. Change if necessary.

Check the coolant level in cooling system. If the coolant level is too low, fill the system.

Check idle engine speed, steering unit, service brakes and hand brake. Repair any damage if necessary.

Every 50 Hours

Check and inflate tires as required.

Check battery condition. Charge or replace.

Check front axle oil level. Add if required.

Check hydraulic fluid level. If necessary, add hydraulic fluid to the system.

Lubricate the front axle bearing assembly.

Check tractor for lost or loose screws and nuts.

Every 250 hours

Changing engine oil. Recommended oil type - Plus-50, SAE 15W-40, 10W-40, 5W-40, 5W-30. API Service Category CJ-4, CI-4, CH-4, CG-4. Engine oil capacity: 7.5 L (7.9 qt). Check motor oil level after changing.

Engine oil filter replacement. Oil filter part number: T19044. Flush the filter housing before the filter element replacement procedure. After replacing the filter, check the oil level. If necessary, add oil.

Changing transmission/hydraulic fluid. Oil type - Hy-Gard, J20C, J20D. Transmission/hydraulic fluid capacity: 32 L (8.5 gal). After replacing the transmission/hydraulic oil, check the level with a dipstick.

Transmission/hydraulic oil filter replacement. Oil filter part number: RE45864. Check the transmission/hydraulic oil level after installing a new filter. If necessary, add it.

Engine air filter elements checking. Replace as required or every year. Engine primary air filter part number: RE68048/AP33330. Engine secondary air filter part number: RE68049/AP33331.

Clean radiator fins from dirt.

Inspect fan/alternator belt. Replace if necessary.

Check wheel bolt torque.

Every 500 Hours

Replace engine fuel filter. Fuel filter part number - RE60021. Check injection pump adjustments.

Check radiator coolant. Top up if coolant is low.

Check engine low idle speed. Adjust if necessary.

Check the tubes and hoses. Tighten as recommended.

Change front axle oil. Front axle capacity: 4.5 L (4.8 qt).

Check and adjust the brake system components.

Clean oil cooler fins and radiator.

Drain, flush and refill cooling system. Cooling system capacity: 9.5 L (2.51 gal).

Inspect all hoses and clamps.

Check and service the battery.

Check and adjust valve clearance.

Inspect and adjust diesel fuel pump.
