John Deere 6120E Periodic Maintenance

Every 10 Hours or Daily

Check engine oil level. If the engine oil level is low, add fresh oil.

Check transmission/hydraulic fluid level. When the transmission fluid is low, add fresh oil.

Check engine air filter element. Change if required.

Check radiator coolant level. If the coolant level is low, top it up.

Check engine idling, steering unit, parking brake and service brakes. Repair any damage if necessary.

Every 50 Hours

Inspect tires and check inflation pressure. If required, add air to tires.

Check battery charge. Charge the battery if necessary.

Checking the oil in front axle. Fill as required.

Checking hydraulic oil in system. Add if required.

Lubricate the front axle wheel bearings.

Check tractor for lost or loose screws and nuts.

Every 250 hours

Check cab fresh air filter element. Clean if necessary.

Inspect cab recirculation air filter element. Service as required.

Clean the radiator fins with a brush from dust.

Check fan/alternator belt tension. Adjust as required.

Check wheel bolt torque.

Every 500 Hours

Changing engine oil. Motor oil type: Plus-50, SAE 10W-40, 10W-30, 5W-30. API Service Category CJ-4, CI-4, CH-4. How much to pour: Engine oil capacity - 15.0 L (4 gal). Add oil to the upper mark on the dipstick.

Changing oil filter. Filter part number - RE504836. When replace the filter, flushing the housing is necessary. After installation, checking the oil level is recommended. Add oil if it is low.

Transmission/hydraulic fluid change. Transmission/hydraulic fluid type - Hy-Gard 2, JDM J20C, JDM J20D. How much to fill: Transmission/hydraulic capacity - 58.0 L (15.3 gal). Add transmission oil to the upper mark on the dipstick.

Perform hydraulic filter replacement. Hydraulic filter part number: SJ11792. After installation, checking the hydraulic fluid level is recommended. Add oil if required.

Check cab fresh air filter element. Change if necessary. Air filter part number - RE198488.

Inspect cab recirculation air filter element. Replace as required. Part number - RE195491.

Engine air filter elements checking. Replace as required. Engine primary air filter part number: SU20768. Engine secondary air filter part number: RE253519.

Change fuel filters. Engine primary fuel filter part number: RE551507. Engine secondary fuel filter part number: RE551508. Check the correct operation of injection pump.

Check radiator coolant. Top up if required.

Check engine idle speeds. Adjust engine idle as required.

Check and tighten all hoses and clamps.

Front axle oil change. Front axle capacity: 5.0 L (1.32 gal).

Adjust service and parking brakes.

Change filter and engine oil. Check and clean the lubrication system.

Change engine primary and secondary air cleaner elements.

Install a new hydraulic filter.

Change hydraulic/transmission fluid.

Replace primary and secondary fuel filters, but drain water from fuel tank first.

Clean radiator and oil cooler fins.

Flush the cooling system and refill with fresh coolant. Cooling system capacity: 18.6 L (4.7 gal) / 19.1 L (5 gal) - with Cab.

Inspect all hoses and clamps.

Check and service the battery.

Check and adjust valve clearance.

Check and adjust injector pump.
