John Deere 6605 Maintenance Intervals

Every Ten Hours or Daily Checking

Engine oil level checking procedure. If after checking the oil level is low, add it.

Check hydraulic/transmission oil level. When the hydraulic/transmission fluid is low, add fresh oil.

Engine air filters checking. Replace with a new one if necessary.

Check the coolant level. If the coolant level is low, add it.

Check engine idling, steering, service brakes and hand brake. Repair any damage if required.

Oil And Filter Change

Every 250 hours

Change engine oil. Recommended engine oil type: Plus-50, SAE 15W-40, 10W-30, 5W-30. API Service Category CJ-4, CI-4, CH-4. Lubricating system capacity - 12 L (3.2 gal). Check motor oil level after changing.

Engine oil filter changing. Oil filter part number: RE59754. When change the filter, cleaning the housing is required. Check the oil level after installing a new filter. Add oil if it is low.

Every 300 hours

Inspect engine primary air filter. Clean as required. Engine primary air filter part number: AL78869.

Checking cab fresh air filter. Service if necessary. Cab air filter part number - AL177185/AL177184.

Every 500 hours

Replace primary fuel filter. Fuel filter part number - RE509208.

Change final fuel filter. Part number - RE62419. Check injection pump adjustments.

Every 750 hours

Replace hydraulic/transmission oil filter. Transmission/hydraulic filter part number: AL156625. After installing a new filter, check the hydraulic/transmission oil. Add fluid if necessary.

Every 1500 hours

Transmission/hydraulic fluid change. Recommended fluid type: Hy-Gard, JDM J20C, JDM J20D. Transmission and Hydraulic System Capacity: SyncroPlus Transmission - 52 L (13.7 gal), PowrQuad Transmission - 49 L (12.9 gal). Add hydraulic/transmission oil to the upper mark on the dipstick.

Replace engine primary air filter. Part number: AL78869.

Replace engine secondary air filter. Part number: AL78870.

Change cab fresh air filter. Air filter part number - AL177185/AL177184.

Change front axle lubricant. Front Axle Capacity: Without TLSTM - 5 L (1.3 gal), With TLSTM - 6 L (1.6 gal). Front axle oil: Hy-Gard.

Clean oil cooler fins and radiator.

Drain, flush and refill engine cooling system. Cooling System Capacity: Models w/Cab - 13.5 L (3.6 gal), Models w/o Cab - 11 L (2.9 gal).

Check all clamps hoses and hoses.

Check and service the battery.

Check engine valve clearance.

Inspect and adjust diesel injection pump.
