Massey Ferguson 1080 Periodic Maintenance

Every Ten Hours or Daily

Check the engine oil level. If after checking the engine oil level is low, top it up.

Transmission oil level checking. When the transmission fluid is low, add fresh oil.

Engine air filter checking. Change if required.

Check engine coolant level. If the coolant level is too low, fill the system.

Check engine speed, steering system, service brakes and hand brake. Repair any damage if required.

Every 50 Hours

Checking the air pressure of tyres. Inflate if required.

Check battery condition. Charge or replace.

Check front axle oil level. Top up as necessary.

Check the hydraulic oil level in system. Fill the hydraulic system as required.

Lubricate rear and front axle hub bearings.

Inspect tractor for loose nuts and bolts.

Every 200 hours

Engine oil change. Recommended oil type - 10W-30, 15W-40, 20W-40. How much to change: Engine Oil Capacity - 10.0 qt (9.5 L). Fill with the new oil up to the upper notch on the dipstick.

Changing oil filter. Engine oil filter part number: 1447048M2. Oil filter element part number - 1882916M91. Before installing a new filter, clean the filter housing from clogging. Check the oil level after installing a new filter. If required, add it.

Clean radiator surface from dirt.

Check alternator/fan belt for wear. If necessary replace it.

Check wheel bolt torque.

Every 500 Hours

Change engine fuel filter. Engine fuel filter part number: 836218V92. Check the operation of injection pump.

Check radiator coolant. Top up if required.

Check engine idling. Adjust if necessary.

Check the fittings and hoses. Tighten as required.

Front axle fluid change.

Check brake adjustment.

Every 750 Hours

Transmission/hydraulic fluid change. Fluid type - Permatran 821XL, SAE 10W-30. How much to add: Transmission/hydraulic Oil Capacity - 8.5 gal (32.2 L). After adding hydraulic/transmission fluid, check the level with a dipstick.

Changing hydraulic filter. Part number of hydraulic filter element: 1911855V4 (Oil Cooler Lines) or 521451M1 (Lift Pump). Check the hydraulic oil level after installing a new filter element. Add oil if necessary.

Replace steering filter in steering system. Part number - 1039660M1 (Strainer) / 1019235M91 (Element). Change the oil. Steering Oil Capacity - 3.0 qt (2.7 L).

Replacing engine primary air filter. Engine air filter part number: 1039044M91.

Perform inspection and changing of the engine secondary air filter. Part number: 1039045M91.

Check the cab air filter. Part number: 1032944M1. Change if necessary.

Drain, flush and refill cooling system. Cooling System Capacity - 16.5 qt (15.6 L).

Inspect all hoses and clamps.

Check battery charging.

Check and adjust valve clearance.

Inspect and adjust fuel injectors.
