Massey Ferguson 254 Periodic Maintenance

Every Ten Hours or Daily

Motor oil level checking. If the oil level is too low, add new oil.

Check transmission/hydraulic oil level. When transmission/hydraulic oil is low, fill in new oil.

Checking engine primary/secondary air filters. Change if necessary.

Check radiator coolant level. If the coolant level is low, top it up.

Check engine speed, steering, service brakes and parking brake. Repair any damage if required.

Every 50 Hours

Inspect all tires. Inflate tires if necessary.

Test battery charging. If the charge level is low, charge the battery.

Check front axle oil level. Top up as necessary.

Check hydraulic fluid level. If necessary, add hydraulic oil to the system.

Lubricate rear and front axle hub bearings.

Check wheels and tighten nuts and bolts if required.

Every 200 hours

Replace fuel filter element. Fuel filter part number - 836218V92. Check the efficiency of injection pump.

Check engine primary air filter element. Change if necessary. Air filter part number - 1698683M1.

Inspect engine secondary air filter element. Replace as required. Part number - 1698684M1.

Inspect the fan/alternator belt and if it is worn, replace it.

Every 250 hours

Change engine oil. Engine oil type - SAE 20, 20W. API service classification SE, SF, CC. How much to fill: Engine Oil Capacity - 6.9 qt (6.5 L). When the procedure is complete, check the engine oil level.

Changing oil filter. Filter part number - 1447082M2. Before installing a new filter, clean the filter housing from clogging. When the filter is replaced, check the oil level. If necessary, add it.

Remove dirt from radiator fins with a brush.

Check wheel bolt torque.

Every 500 Hours

Replace hydraulic/transmission fluid. Recommended hydraulic/transmission oil: Permatran 821XL, SAE 10W-30. How much to add: Transmission/Hydraulic Oil Capacity - 5.5 gal (21.0 L). After changing the hydraulic/transmission fluid, check the level with a dipstick.

Change hydraulic filter. Part number of hydraulic filter element - 3307250M91. After installing a new filter, check the hydraulic/transmission oil. Add fluid if required.

Check cooling system for leaks. Top up if coolant is low.

Front axle oil change. Front Axle Oil - Permatran.

Check and adjust the service and parking brakes.

Every 1000 Hours

Replace steering fluid filter. Steering fluid filter part number - 3300901M91. After installing a new filter, check the steering oil. Add steering oil if it is low. Steering Oil Capacity - 1.6 qt (1.5 L).

Check engine idling. Adjust engine idle if necessary.

Check and tighten the hoses and hose clamps.

Change filter and engine oil. Service oil system components.

Change engine primary and secondary air filter elements.

Install a new steering filter and fill with fresh steering oil.

Replace hydraulic filter and change transmission/hydraulic fluid.

Drain water from fuel tank, then change the fuel filter.

Clean oil cooler fins and radiator.

Flush the cooling system and add new coolant. Cooling System Capacity - 11 qt (10.5 L).

Check all hoses and clamps.

Check and service the battery.

Check engine valve clearance.

Check and adjust fuel pump.
