New Holland L190 Skid Steer Troubleshooting

The New Holland L190 skid steer loader is powered by 274 cu.in (4.5L) FPT F4G E9454 4-cycle 4-cylinder direct injection turbocharged liquid-cooled diesel engine with a rated power of 83 hp (62 kW) at 2300 rpm. The New Holland L190 is equipped with two-speed hydrostatic transmission, 100 HD roller chains, and 14x17.5 standard tires. The hydraulic system has a pump with fluid flow rate of 21.9 gpm (83 lpm). The hydraulic pressure is 3050 psi (210 bar). The skid steer loader has a rated operating capacity of 2800 lbs (1270 kg) and tipping load of 5600 lbs (2450 kg). Engine Troubleshooting

Engine starts up hard or will not start

Air in the fuel system - Air bleeding.

Fuel injection pump damage - Install a new fuel pump or repair.

Engine shuts off while running

Engine is not warmed up to required temperature - Warm up to required temperature.
Fuel filter element is clogged - Replace filter element.
There is air in the fuel system - Bleed the system.
Fuel injection nozzles are faulty or clogged - Inspect nozzles and replace if necessary.
Wrong setting of fuel injection pump timing - Adjust according to specifications.

Engine stalls while idle

Incorrect low idle speed adjustment - Correct low idle adjustment.
Fuel injection pump is not operating properly - Rebuild or install a new injection pump.
Defective fuel injectors - Change or clean fuel injectors.

Lack of engine power

Dirty air cleaner - Clean or replace air cleaner element.

Power is too low

Drive system keeps overheating

Excessive noise

Hydraulic system overheated

Bucket or boom is moving jerkily

Air in hydraulic system - Bleed air from hydraulic system.

Cylinder rod or tube is scratched - Replace damaged component.

Hydraulic pump is excessively noisy

Electrical Troubleshooting

Battery cannot be charged

Electrical cable connections are corroded or loose - Clean or tighten wiring connections.
Battery terminal clamps are defective - Install new terminal clamps.
Battery is worn - Battery change required.
Belt is worn or loose - Adjust belt tension or change the belt.

Starter turns slowly

Low battery voltage - Charge the battery.
Battery runs out quickly - Battery needs to be serviced or replaced.
Disconnected cables or faulty battery terminals - Connect wires properly or change terminals.

Starter is not working

Battery is discharged or worn - Charge or replace the battery.
Disconnected or incorrectly connected wires - Inspect battery wires and connect correctly.

Starter motor is faulty - Starter should be changed.
