Engine hard to start or doesn't start: Fuel filter element is dirty. Replace filter element. Air in the fuel system. Air bleeding. Fuel injection nozzles are faulty or clogged. Change fuel injection nozzles. Fuel injection pump malfunctioning. Install a new fuel pump or repair.

Engine shuts off suddenly during operation: Fuel injection pump timing is wrong. Adjust fuel injection pump as required. Fuel filter element is dirty. Replace filter element. Engine is cold. Normalize the temperature by warming up the engine.

Engine starts but immediately stalls: Fuel filter element is clogged. Replace filter element. Damaged fuel injection pump. Replacement or repair required. Plugged air cleaner. Change air filter element.
