Kubota B1700 Engine Troubleshooting

Engine starts up hard or won't start: Fuel filter plugged. Replace filter element. Air in the fuel pipes. Bleed the fuel pipes. Damaged or dirty injection nozzles. If necessary, replace with a new nozzle. Defective fuel injection pump. Replace or repair injection pump.

Engine stops suddenly during operation: Improper fuel injection timing. Set up as recommended. Fuel filter element clogging. Service or replace the filter. Engine is not warmed up to the required temperature. Warm up engine as required.

Diesel starts and stops: Dirty fuel filter. Clean the filter or install new filter element. Faulty fuel injection pump. Rebuild or change fuel pump. Air filter is clogged. Replace air filter element.

Engine overheating: Damaged radiator cap or dirty radiator core. Change cap or clean radiator. Coolant level is low. The cooling system needs to be refilled and checked for faults. Fan belt is broken or worn. Belt replacement is recommended. Engine oil insufficient. Check and refill engine oil.

Low engine power: Dirty or damaged injection nozzles. Install a new kit of correctly balanced nozzles. Fuel hoses or lines are dirty. Clean fuel hoses and lines. Clogged air cleaner. Clean or change. Worn cylinder head gasket. Change cylinder head gasket.

Abnormal engine knocking or noise: Low coolant temperature. Normalize the temperature by warming up the engine. Not enough engine oil. Fill up the oil to required level. Incorrect adjustment of fuel injection pump timing. Check the fuel injection pump timing adjustment. Worn or scored pistons. Replace the pistons as required. Connecting rod failure or misalignment. Align or replace connecting rod.

Engine stops when idling: Too low idle RPM. Adjust low idling as recommended. Valve clearance is out of adjustment. Correct valve clearance. Fuel injection pump is not operating properly. Repair or replace injection pump.

Oil pressure is insufficient: Engine oil insufficient. Need to add oil. Oil pump malfunction. Replace as required. Dirty oil filter element. Change or clean engine oil filter element.

Kubota B1700 Transmission Troubleshooting

Transmission makes excessive noise: Incorrect backlash or gears are worn. Adjust backlash properly or replace the gears. Shift forks are bent or worn out. Shift forks need to be changed. Shaft splines are stuck or worn out. Replace defective shaft. Low oil level. Check and refill the transmission oil. Worn or broken bearings. Change the bearings. Transmission oil is dirty. Transmission oil change required.

Hard shifting: Corroded or worn gear shift linkage. Lubricate or replace shift linkage. Worn or unadjusted clutch. Change or adjust clutch. Shift forks are worn or bent. Install new shift forks. Gear shifting mechanism is defective. Defective parts must be replaced.

Hydrostatic Transmission Troubleshooting

Hydrostatic transmission noise: Speed control pedal linkage is bent or not adjusted. Repair or adjust linkage. Transmission is under excessive load. Reduce loading. Dirty transmission fluid or insufficient fluid level. Pour fresh fluid or add transmission fluid to proper level. Relief valve malfunction. Change relief valve. Worn or defective transmission components. After disassembling and inspection, change defective components.

Transmission fluid overheats: Transmission overload. Reduce the load is required. Defective or plugged cooling components. Check all cooling components and change or clean if required. Transmission fluid insufficient. Checking transmission fluid level and add if necessary. Transmission oil filter is dirty. Service or replace the transmission oil filter.

Power is too low: Transmission fluid level is low. Need to add transmission fluid. Relief valve failure. Replace the valve. Worn or unadjusted speed control linkage. Adjust or repair linkage.

Transmission oil leakage: Clogged oil drain line. Clean or replace drain line. Damaged seals or gaskets. Change defective gaskets or seal. Transmission case internal pressure is too high. Change defective components.

Hydraulic system overheats: Improper hydraulic fluid type. Use the proper type of hydraulic fluid. Dirty hydraulic oil. The oil must be changed. Air in hydraulic system. Bleed air from hydraulic system. Main relief valve is faulty. Relief valve must be changed.

Insufficient hydraulic oil pressure: Hydraulic fluid is insufficient. Fill the system to proper hydraulic fluid level. Hydraulic oil filter is clogged. Kubota B1700 Electrical System Troubleshooting

Battery will not charge: Loose or corroded wire connections. Clean or tighten wiring connections. Faulty battery terminal clamps. Terminal clamps should be changed. Defective battery. Use a new battery. Worn or loose belt. Adjust belt tension or replace belt.

Starter cranks slow: Battery power is low. Battery is drained, charge it. Battery drains quickly. Service charging system or replace battery. Battery terminals are corroded or wires are disconnected. Check wiring connections and replace or clean terminals.
