Diesel hard to start or doesn't start: Fuel filter element clogging. Service or replace the filter. Air trapped in fuel system. Bleed air. Fuel injection nozzles are faulty or clogged. Check and replace nozzles if required. Fuel injection pump is not operating properly. Change pump or rebuild it.

Engine stalls during operation: Incorrect adjustment of fuel injection pump timing. Adjust the pump as required. Dirty fuel filter. Service the filter. Low coolant temperature. Warm up to required temperature.

Diesel starts and suddenly stops: Clogged fuel filter. Clean the filter or install new filter element. Defective fuel injection pump. Repair or install new pump. Plugged air cleaner. Service air cleaner.

Engine overheating: Defective radiator cap or clogged radiator fins. Clean radiator or replace cap. Not enough coolant. The cooling system needs to be refilled and checked for faults. Fan belt slipping or worn. Install new fan belt. Not enough engine oil. Check and refill engine oil.
