Kubota BX1850 Engine Troubleshooting

Engine hard to start or won't start: Fuel filter element is dirty. Change filter element. Air in the fuel system. Air bleeding. Dirty or damaged injection nozzles. Check injection nozzles and replace if required. Fuel injection pump is damaged. Repair or install new pump.

Engine stops unexpectedly during operation: Timing of fuel injection pump is incorrect. Set the fuel pump timing correctly. Fuel filter element is dirty. Replace the filter element. Coolant temperature is low. Warm up the engine.

Diesel starts and then shuts off: Fuel filter plugged. Service or replace the filter. Faulty fuel injection pump. Rebuild or change fuel pump. Plugged air filter. Air filter maintenance required.

Engine is overheated: Defective radiator cap or clogged radiator fins. Clean radiator or install new cap. Engine has a lack of coolant. Add coolant fluid and inspect the cooling system for leaks. Loose or defective fan belt. Replace the fan belt. Insufficient engine oil. Add oil to the engine crankcase.

Poor engine power: Damaged or dirty injection nozzles. Clean or replace injection nozzles. Fuel hoses or lines are clogged. Clean fuel system lines and hoses. Dirty air cleaner. Replace air filter element. Worn cylinder head gasket. Install a new gasket.

Engine knocking sound or abnormal noise: Engine has not warmed up to the recommended temperature. Normalize the temperature by warming up the engine. Not enough engine oil. Fill up the engine oil. Excessive hydrostatic transmission noise: Speed control linkage is defective or unadjusted. Adjust or change linkage. Transmission is under excessive load. Load needs to be reduced. Contaminated transmission fluid or low fluid level. Fill to required level or change the fluid. Defective relief valve. Replace relief valve. Worn or defective parts of the hydrostatic transmission. After disassembly and inspection, replace defective components.

Transmission overheats: Transmission is under excessive load. Reduce the load is required. Cooling components are damaged or clogged. Check all cooling components and clean or replace if required. Low fluid level. Fill the transmission housing to proper fluid level. Dirty transmission fluid filter. Service or change transmission fluid filter.

Power is insufficient: Lack of transmission fluid. Fill the transmission housing to proper fluid level. Stuck relief valve. Replace relief valve. Speed control pedal linkage is bent or not adjusted. Change or adjust linkage.

Transmission oil leakage: Clogged oil drain line. Clean or replace drain line. Damaged gaskets or seals. Change defective seal or gaskets. Internal transmission housing pressure is too high. Check transmission parts for damage or wear and replace if required.

Hydraulic system is too hot: Wrong hydraulic oil type. Fill up with the correct type of oil. Hydraulic fluid is dirty. Hydraulic fluid change required. There is air in the hydraulic system. Bleed hydraulic system. Main relief valve is faulty. Install a new relief valve.

Adjust toe-in properly. Worn or loose steering linkage assembly. Repair or change steering linkage. Improperly adjusted or worn front wheel bearings. Change or adjust the bearings properly. Tires have uneven wear. Replace the tires.

Kubota BX1850 Electrical Troubleshooting

Battery will not charge: Electrical cable connections are loose or corroded. Tighten or service cable connections. Battery terminal connectors are defective. Terminal connectors should be replaced. Battery faulty cell. Install a new battery. Loose or damaged belt. Belt needs to be adjusted or replaced.
