Kubota BX1870 Engine Troubleshooting

Engine hard to start or will not start: Dirty fuel filter. Install new filter element. Air in the fuel system. Air bleeding. Faulty or dirty injection nozzles. Install a new kit of correctly balanced nozzles. Fuel injection pump is not operating properly. Install a new fuel pump or repair.

Engine stalls during operation: Improper setting of fuel injection pump timing. Check the fuel injection pump timing adjustment. Fuel filter element is dirty. Service the filter. Low coolant temperature. Warm up engine as required.

Diesel starts and suddenly stops: Clogged fuel filter. Clean the filter element. Fuel injection pump is not operating properly. Install a new fuel pump or repair. Plugged air filter. Service or replace the air filter.

Engine overheats: Radiator fins are clogged or radiator cap is faulty. Replace cap or clean radiator. Lack of coolant in cooling system. Top up coolant fluid and check system for leaks. Excessive wear of the fan belt. Replace the fan belt. Engine oil insufficient. Fill up the engine oil.

Lack of engine power: Fuel injection nozzles are faulty or clogged. Service or change injection nozzles. Fuel hoses or lines are dirty. Clean fuel system hoses and lines. Dirty air filter element. Install new air filter element. Cylinder head gasket defective. Install a new gasket.

Abnormal engine knocking or noise: Engine is not preheated. Warm up to required temperature. Engine oil level is low. Check oil level and add oil as required. Improper fuel injection timing. Set up as recommended. Pistons are worn or broken. Replace the pistons as required. Misaligned or faulty connecting rod. Connecting rod must be aligned or replaced.

Engine stops at idle: Incorrect low idle speed adjustment. Adjust the low idle speed. The valve clearance is incorrect. Adjust valve clearance. Fuel injection pump is not working correctly. Rebuild or replace pump.

Low oil pressure: Engine oil level low. Fill the crankcase with oil. Oil pump is defective. Install a new pump. Engine oil filter is plugged. Change or clean engine oil filter element.

Kubota BX1870 Hydrostatic Transmission Troubleshooting

HST transmission is excessively noisy: Speed control linkage is worn or unadjusted. Adjust or change linkage. Transmission overloaded. The load should be reduced. Insufficient oil level or contaminated oil. Add oil to proper level or pour fresh transmission oil. Relief valve failure. Install a new valve. Worn or defective transmission components. After disassembling and inspection, change defective components.

Hot transmission oil: Transmission is under excessive load. Reduce the load is required. Defective or plugged cooling components. Check all cooling components and clean or replace if required. Low oil level. Check and refill the transmission oil. Transmission fluid filter element clogging. Clean or change transmission fluid filter.

Lack of power: Insufficient transmission oil. Need to add transmission oil. Relief valve malfunction. Replace relief valve as required. Speed control pedal linkage is damaged or out of adjustment. Adjust or install new linkage.

Transmission oil leaking: Clogged oil drain line. Clean or replace drain line. Broken seals or gaskets. Replace worn gaskets or seal. High internal transmission housing pressure. Repair or replace damaged components.

Excessive hydraulic system heat: Incorrect type of hydraulic oil. The correct type of oil must be used. Dirty hydraulic oil. The oil must be changed. Air in the hydraulic system. Air bleeding. Main relief valve is defective. Relief valve need to be replaced.

Insufficient hydraulic oil pressure: Low hydraulic oil level. Need to add oil. Dirty hydraulic fluid filter. Service the hydraulic filter or change if required. Leaks in hydraulic lines. Inspect the system for leaks and fix it. Hydraulic control valve block is not set properly. Use the proper setting. Hydraulic pump failure. Replace or repair hydraulic oil pump. Use the proper setting. Hitch cross shaft is worn. Install a new shaft. The hitch has not been adjusted. Adjust 3-point hitch as required.

Tractor is pulling to right or left: Worn or damaged hydrostatic steering unit. Inspect and change as required. Steering cylinder damage. Repair or replace steering cylinder. Not adjusted toe-in. Check and adjust toe-in. Steering linkage components are loose or worn. Repair or change steering linkage. Front wheel bearings are damaged or incorrectly adjusted. Adjust properly or replace bearings. Front tires wear unevenly. Change the tires.

Battery won’t charge: Corroded or loose electrical wire connections. Service or tighten connections. Defective battery terminal connectors. Change terminal connectors. Bad cell in battery. Battery change required. Defective or loose belt. Belt needs to be adjusted or changed.

Starter cranks slowly: Battery capacity is low. Battery is drained, recharge it. Battery drains quickly. Service battery or replace it. Disconnected battery cables or bad terminals. Check battery wires and service or replace terminals.
