Kubota L3540 Diesel Engine Troubleshooting

Engine hard to start or doesn't start: Clogged fuel filter. Clean the filter element. Air in the fuel system. Air bleeding. Fuel injection nozzles fault. Clean or change injection nozzles. Fuel injection pump malfunction. Replace injection pump or repair it.

Engine shuts off suddenly while running: Fuel injection pump timing is not adjusted. Adjust according to specifications. Fuel filter element clogging. Install new filter element. Coolant temperature is low. Normalize the temperature by warming up the engine.

Engine starts and then shuts off: Clogged fuel filter. Change the filter element. Fuel injection pump malfunction. Repair or change injection pump. Air filter clogged. Air filter maintenance required.

Engine overheating: Defective radiator cap or clogged radiator core. Clean radiator or install new cap. Engine has a lack of coolant. Add coolant fluid to cooling system and also check it for leaks. Transmission fluid overheats: Transmission overload. Reduce transmission load. Cooling components are defective or plugged. Check all cooling components and repair or change if required. Lack of transmission fluid. Add fluid to the transmission housing. Transmission fluid filter element clogging. Clean or change transmission fluid filter.

Power is insufficient: Insufficient transmission fluid. Need to add transmission fluid. Relief valve malfunction. Change the valve. Worn or out of adjustment speed control linkage. Replace or adjust linkage.
