Kubota L4300 Diesel Engine Troubleshooting

Engine starts hard or will not start: Dirty fuel filter. Service or replace the filter. Air in the fuel pipes. Bleed the fuel pipes. Faulty fuel injection nozzles. Install a new kit of correctly balanced nozzles. Fuel injection pump failure. Install a new fuel pump or repair.

Engine stalls during operation: Fuel injection pump timing is wrong. Adjust according to specifications. Fuel filter plugged. Filter maintenance required. Coolant temperature is low. Warm up to required temperature.

Diesel starts but stalls suddenly: Clogged fuel filter. Filter maintenance required. Faulty fuel injection pump. Rebuild or replace pump. Intake air restriction. Service or replace the air filter.

Engine overheats: Damaged radiator cap or dirty radiator core. Replace cap or clean radiator. Not enough coolant. Add coolant fluid to cooling system and also check it for leaks. Broken or loose fan belt. Fan belt must be replaced. Engine oil level is low. Need to add engine oil.

Engine power loss: Dirty or faulty injection nozzles. Service or change injection nozzles. Dirty fuel lines or hoses. Service fuel lines and hoses. Clogged air cleaner. Change air filter element. Blown cylinder head gasket. Cylinder-head gasket replacement required.

Abnormal engine knocking or noise: Engine is not warmed up to the required temperature. Normalize the temperature by warming up the engine. Insufficient engine oil. Fill up the engine oil. Fuel injection pump timing is not adjusted. Adjust fuel injection pump as required. Worn or broken pistons. Install new pistons. Connecting rod is not aligned or defective. Alignment procedure or replacement is required.

Hydraulic system overheating: Wrong type of hydraulic fluid. Fill up with the correct type of hydraulic fluid. Hydraulic fluid is contaminated. Fill up with new hydraulic fluid. Air in hydraulic lines. Bleed hydraulic lines. Main relief valve malfunction. Install a new relief valve.

Difficult steering: Air in steering hydraulic system. Need to bleed air. Steering filter is dirty. Clean or change steering filter. Steering oil level low. Add oil to steering system. Tractor is pulling to left or right: Power steering control valve has damage or wear. Repair or replace the steering control valve. Steering cylinder is faulty. Replace or repair hydraulic steering cylinder. Not adjusted toe-in. Check toe-in and correct. Loose or worn steering linkage components. Check and change as required. Improperly adjusted or worn front wheel bearings. Replace the bearings or adjust it properly. Front tyres are worn unevenly. Install new tyres.

Kubota L4300 Electrical System Troubleshooting

Battery won’t charge: Electrical wire connections are corroded or loose. Tighten or service cable connections. Faulty battery terminal clamps. Replace terminal clamps. Bad cell in battery. Change the battery. Loose or damaged belt. Belt needs to be adjusted or changed.

Starter turns slowly: Low battery output voltage. Battery is drained, recharge it. Battery will not hold charge. Service charging system or install new battery. Faulty battery terminals or disconnected cables. Connect wires correctly or change terminals.

Starter motor is not working: Battery is drained or defective. Charge or replace the battery. Disconnected or incorrectly connected wires. Inspect battery wires and connect correctly. Battery voltage is low. Battery needs to be recharged. Starter motor is damaged. Starter should be replaced.
