Kubota L5460 Engine Troubleshooting

Engine difficult to start or doesn't start: Fuel filter plugged. Replace the filter element. Air in the fuel lines. Bleed the fuel lines. Fuel injection nozzles are damaged. Check injection nozzles and replace if required. Fuel injection pump failure. Rebuild or install a new injection pump.

Engine stops suddenly during operation: Improper fuel injection timing. Set up as recommended. Dirty fuel filter. Replace filter element. Low coolant temperature. Warm up engine as required.

Diesel starts but stalls immediately: Fuel filter plugged. Service or replace the filter. Damaged fuel injection pump. Repair or replace injection pump. Air filter is clogged. Clean or replace element.

Engine overheats: Dirty radiator core or faulty radiator cap. Replace cap or clean radiator. Lack of coolant in cooling system. Top up coolant fluid and check system for leaks. Broken or loose fan belt. If necessary, replace the belt. Engine oil level is insufficient. Fill up the oil to required level.

Diesel engine is losing power: Fuel injection nozzles are faulty or clogged. Service or change injection nozzles. Dirt in the fuel lines or hoses. Clean fuel system hoses and lines. Air cleaner is dirty. Carry out maintenance on air filter. Damaged cylinder-head gasket. Install a new gasket.

HST transmission makes noise: Worn or unadjusted speed control linkage. Adjust or repair linkage. Transmission overloaded. Load needs to be reduced. Dirty transmission fluid or insufficient fluid level. Pour fresh fluid or add transmission fluid to proper level. Relief valve malfunction. Replace valve as required. Transmission parts are worm or defective. After disassembly and inspection, replace defective components.

Transmission fluid overheating: Excessive transmission load. Reduce transmission load. Cooling components are defective or plugged. Check all cooling components and clean or replace if required.
