Engine overheats: Dirty radiator core or defective radiator cap. Clean radiator or replace cap. Lack of coolant in cooling system. Top up coolant fluid and check system for leaks. Damaged or worn fan belt. Install new fan belt. Engine oil level low. Add oil to the engine crankcase.
Poor engine power: Fuel injection nozzles are damaged or dirty. Test injection nozzles and change if necessary. Dirt in the fuel lines or hoses. Clean fuel system hoses and lines. Plugged air cleaner. Clean or change the filter. Damaged cylinder-head gasket. Replace cylinder head gasket.
Engine knocking sound or abnormal noise: Engine not warmed up. Warm up to required temperature. Engine oil insufficient. Check oil level and add oil as required. Improper fuel injection timing. Use the correct fuel injection pump timing adjustment. Pistons are worn or broken. Have pistons replaced. Connecting rod is defective or misaligned. Connecting rod needs to be replaced or aligned.
Engine stops when idling: Low idle speed setting is not correct. Correct the settings. Incorrect valve clearance. Have it adjusted. Fuel injection pump is not working correctly. Install a new pump or rebuild.
Oil pressure is low: Low oil level. Need to add oil. Oil pump failure. Repair or replace. Plugged engine oil filter. Service or change engine oil filter element.
Kubota M5091 Transmission Troubleshooting
Transmission is making noise: Improper backlash or worn gears. Install new gears and set backlash correctly. Shift forks are worn or bent. Shift forks need to be changed. Shaft splines are damaged or worn. Install a new shaft. Transmission oil insufficient. Add oil to the transmission housing. Worn or cracked bearings. Bearings need to be changed. Transmission oil contamination. Change the oil.
Hard shifting: Worn or rusty gear shift linkage. Install a new gear shift linkage. Unadjusted or worn clutch. Clutch needs to be replaced or adjusted. Shift forks are worn or bent. Change the shift forks. Gear shifting mechanism is defective. Defective parts must be replaced.
Transmission oil pressure is insufficient: Transmission fluid level is low. Checking transmission fluid level and add if necessary. Clogged transmission oil filter element (if fitted). Clean or replace the transmission filter. Stuck relief valve. Replace relief valve as required.
External oil leaks: Seals or gaskets are worn. Replace worn seal or gaskets. High transmission fluid level. Drain the excess fluid.
Kubota M5091 Hydraulic System Troubleshooting
Hydraulic system overheated: Hydraulic fluid type is improper. The proper type of fluid must be used. Contaminated hydraulic fluid. Change hydraulic fluid. Air in hydraulic system. Bleed air from hydraulic system. Faulty main relief valve. Replace relief valve.
Hydraulic fluid pressure is low: Hydraulic fluid is insufficient. Add fluid as required. Hydraulic oil filter is clogged. Replace filter element or clean if required. Hydraulic piping is leaking. Inspect the system for leaks and fix it. Incorrect adjusted hydraulic control valve. Adjust correctly. Hydraulic pump not working. Change or repair hydraulic oil pump. Damaged hydraulic cylinder. Repair or install a new hydraulic cylinder.
Hitch does not raise or raises very slowly: Hydraulic pump malfunction. Replace or repair hydraulic oil pump. Main relief valve is defective. Relief valve need to be replaced. Hydraulic spool valve block is defective. Replace or repair the valve. Hydraulic cylinder is broken. Replace or repair hydraulic cylinder. Hydraulic fluid is insufficient. Add fluid as required. Dirty hydraulic oil filter element. Replace hydraulic filter element or service if necessary. Excessive loading on the hitch. The load should be reduced.
Hitch cannot be dropped or dropping is too slow: Hydraulic cylinder is broken. Install a new hydraulic cylinder or repair it. Incorrect adjusted hydraulic control valve. Adjust correctly. Worn hitch cross shaft. Change the shaft. Unadjusted hitch. The 3-point hitch must be adjusted.
Hitch drop or lift is jerky: Contaminated hydraulic oil. Change hydraulic oil. Faulty hydraulic pump. Repair or replace hydraulic fluid pump. Air trapped in hydraulic system. Bleed air from system. Faulty hydraulic spool valve. Repair or change hydraulic valve. Broken hydraulic cylinder. Repair or replace hydraulic cylinder.
Kubota M5091 Steering System Troubleshooting
Steering wheel has too much free-play: Steering column shaft or coupling has maximum wear. Change faulty part. Hydraulic steering pump is defective. Check the steering pump and replace if necessary. Steering linkage assembly is worn or loose. Inspect and change as required. Power steering control valve has damage or wear. Check and replace as required.
Stiff steering: Air in steering system. Bleed air. Steering filter element is clogged. Service or replace the steering filter. Not enough steering fluid. Fill up steering fluid to required level. Power steering control valve has malfunction or wear. Change or repair steering control valve if required. Defective hydraulic steering pump. Install a new steering pump. Stuck or damaged steering pump control valve. Install a new flow control valve or clean it. Improperly assembled or defective steering column. Reassemble or change the steering column. Tire pressure is uneven. Adjust the tire pressure. Not adjusted toe-in. Adjust toe-in properly. Steering cylinder leaks. Damaged cylinder seals or worn piston rod.
