Kubota M7950 Engine Troubleshooting

Engine starts hard or won't start: Fuel filter plugging. Clean or replace the filter. Air in the fuel pipes. Bleed the fuel pipes. Fuel injection nozzles are clogged or faulty. Check and replace nozzles if required. Fuel injection pump is defective. Install a new pump or rebuild.

Engine shuts off while running: Timing of fuel injection pump is incorrect. Set it up as required. Fuel filter element is dirty. Service the filter. Low coolant temperature. Engine is not warmed up to the required temperature.

Engine starts but then stalls: Clogged fuel filter. Replace filter element. Fuel injection pump failure. Replace or repair injection pump. Dirty air filter element. Carry out maintenance on air filter.

Engine overheats: Dirty radiator core or defective radiator cap. Clean radiator or replace cap. Low engine coolant. Refill to the correct level and inspect system for leaks. Fan belt is loose or defective. Replace the fan belt. Low engine oil level. Check oil level and add oil as required.

Engine power is too low: Damaged or dirty injection nozzles. Clean or replace injection nozzles. Dirty fuel hoses or lines. Clean fuel lines and hoses. Restricted intake air. Change air filter element. Cylinder head gasket is defective. Gasket should be replaced.

Abnormal engine noise or knocking: Engine is not preheated. Normalize the temperature by warming up the engine. Low engine oil level. Add oil to the engine crankcase. Timing of fuel injection pump is incorrect. Adjust fuel injection pump as required. Pistons are broken or worn. Install new pistons. Misaligned or faulty connecting rod. Need to replace or align the connecting rod.

Engine stalls at idle: Incorrectly adjusted low idle speed. Correct low idle adjustment. The valve clearance is incorrect. Adjustment procedure required. Fuel injection pump damage. Rebuild or change fuel pump.

Oil pressure is low: Oil level is insufficient. Checking oil level and add if necessary. Worn oil pump. Inspect and change as required. Oil filter clogging. Replace or clean engine oil filter element.

Transmission noise: Backlash is incorrect or gears are damaged. Replace defective gears or set backlash properly. Shift forks are bent or worn out. Change defective shift forks. Stuck or worn shaft splines. Shaft need to be replaced. Transmission oil insufficient. Add oil to the transmission housing. Worn or damaged bearings. Faulty bearings should be changed. External fluid leaks: Broken seals or gaskets. Gaskets or seal need to be replaced. Transmission fluid level is high. Correct the fluid level.

Excessive hydraulic system heat: Improper type of hydraulic oil. Use the proper type of oil. Contaminated hydraulic fluid. Change hydraulic fluid. Air in hydraulic pipes. Bleed hydraulic pipes. Main relief valve malfunctioning. Install a new relief valve.

Hydraulic fluid pressure too low: Low hydraulic oil level. Checking hydraulic oil level and add if necessary. Clogged hydraulic oil filter element. Service or replace the hydraulic filter. Excessive free play of steering wheel: Steering column shaft or coupling is worn out. Replace faulty part. Steering pump failure. Check the steering pump and replace if necessary. Steering is stiff: Air in steering system. Bleed air. Clogged steering filter. Clean or replace the element. Lack of steering fluid. Need to add steering oil. Battery won’t charge: Loose or corroded wire connections. Tighten or clean connections. Electrical terminal connectors are defective. Change terminal connectors. Battery faulty cell. Use a new battery. Loose or worn belt. Replace belt or adjust belt tension.

Starter cranks slowly: Battery voltage is low. Recharge the battery. Battery drains quickly. Service charging system or replace battery. Disconnected cables or faulty battery terminals. Check cable connections and change or clean terminals.
