The ASV Posi-Track RC85 compact track loader is powered by 269 cu.in (4.4L) Perkins 1104C-44 vertical four-cylinder direct injection diesel engine with a rated power of 86 hp (64 kW). The ASV RC-85 is equipped with a single-speed hydrostatic transmission, radial-lift loader boom, axial-piston drive pumps, and suspended undercarriage with 18.7" (475 mm) rubber tracks. The hydraulic system has a pump with fluid flow rate of 20 gpm (76 lpm). The hydraulic pressure is 3300 psi (227 bar). The track loader has a rated operating capacity of 2380 lbs (1080 kg) and tipping load of 6800 lbs (3085 kg). The maximum lift height is 125" (3175 mm) to hinge pin.
Engine Troubleshooting
Engine starts hard or will not start
Air in fuel system - Bleed fuel system.
Fuel filter element is dirty - Change filter element.
Fuel injection nozzles are faulty or clogged - Change fuel injection nozzles.
Water in the fuel system - Change fuel and repair fuel system.
The valve clearance is incorrect - Have it adjusted.
Fuel injection pump damage - Change or repair the pump.
Diesel starts and stalls immediately
Dirty air cleaner - Install new air cleaner element.
Fuel filter element is dirty - Change filter element.
Fuel injection pump leakage - Check the fuel injection pump for leaks and fix it.
Dirty or defective injectors - Replace or clean fuel injectors.
Fuel injection pump is not working correctly - Replace or repair injection pump.
Engine shuts off while running
Engine is not preheated - Normalize the temperature by warming up the engine.
Clogged fuel filter - Service or replace the filter.
Air in fuel system - Bleed fuel system.
Clogged or burnt injection nozzle - If necessary, replace with a new nozzle.
Fuel injection pump timing is wrong - Set it up as required.
Engine stops at idle
Too low idle RPM - Adjust low idling as recommended.
Fuel injection pump is defective - Change or repair the pump.
Fuel injectors are dirty or defective - Replace fuel injectors.
The valve clearance is incorrect - Check and adjust.
Engine power is insufficient
Air cleaner is clogged - Install new air cleaner element.
Clogged injection nozzle - Clean or change injection nozzles.
Fuel injection pressure is wrong - Adjust to proper pressure.
Excessive valve clearance - Adjustment procedure required.
Too low idle RPM - Adjust as required.
Fuel hoses or lines are dirty - Fuel lines and hoses need to be cleaned.
Blown cylinder head gasket - Install a new gasket.
Worn or broken piston rings - Change piston rings.
Engine overheated
Not enough coolant - Add coolant fluid and inspect the cooling system for leaks.
Engine oil level low - Fill the crankcase with engine oil.
Dirty radiator fins or faulty radiator cap - Clean radiator or install new cap.
Fan belt slipping or worn - Install new fan belt.
Engine is overloaded - Reduce load on the engine.
Insufficient oil pressure
Insufficient engine oil - Add oil to the engine crankcase.
Oil filter element clogging - Replace or service engine oil filter.
Incorrect engine oil Fill up with the correct oil viscosity.
Incorrect oil clearance in main bearing - Install new bearings.
Oil pump is defective - Check and replace if necessary.
Abnormal engine noise or knocking
Not enough engine oil - Need to add engine oil.
Engine is not preheated - Warm up to required temperature.
Fuel injection pump timing is not adjusted - Check the fuel injection pump timing adjustment.
Too low idle RPM - Adjust the low idle speed.
Damaged or clogged injectors - Replace fuel injectors.
Connecting rod failure or misalignment - Need to replace or align the connecting rod.
Pistons are worn or scored - Have pistons replaced.
Machine will not move in either direction or one direction
Insufficient hydraulic oil - Check and refill the hydraulic oil.
Undercarriage tracks are blocked or damaged - Repair or correct blockage.
Relief valve worn or defective - Change or repair relief valve.
Clogged hydraulic filter or suction line - Clean suction line or change hydraulic filter.
Damaged or worn hand or foot controls - Check and repair as required.
Defective drive pump or motor - Replace or repair faulty component.
Machine is not driving straight or driving is jerky
Track mechanism is jammed or defective - Remove jamming or repair tracks.
Tracks are improperly tensioned or faulty - Replace tracks or adjust track tension.
Debris, dirt, or foreign objects stuck in undercarriage track frame - Clean track frame, remove debris and foreign objects.
Low power
Dirty hydraulic oil filter - Check, clean, or change as necessary.
Worn or open relief valve - Change or close relief valve.
Transmission components are defective or worn - Check and change defective components.
Worn input drive shaft - Replace drive shaft.
Air in the hydraulic system - Bleed air from hydraulic system.
Drive system overheats
Hydraulic oil level is low - Fill the system to proper hydraulic oil level.
Plugged hydraulic fluid filter - Replace hydraulic filter.
Relief valve is damaged or worn - Service or change relief valve.
Defective drive pump or hydraulic motor - Inspect and replace as necessary.
Dirty oil cooler - Clean cooling fins as required.
Drive system overload - Reduce the load.
Drive system is excessively noisy
Oil viscosity is incorrect - Use proper oil viscosity.
Air in hydraulic system - Bleed hydraulic system.
Damaged drive pump or hydraulic motor - Inspect and change as required.
Mechanical components of drive system are defective or worn - Inspect the parts for defect or damage and repair as required.
Hydraulic system overheated
Hydraulic pressure is incorrect - Hydraulic pressure must be set correctly.
Unadjusted or defective main relief valve - Adjust relief valve or change if required.
Hydraulic fluid is contaminated - Hydraulic fluid change required.
Hydraulic oil level is insufficient - Fill the hydraulic system with oil.
Defective hydraulic pump - Change or repair hydraulic pump if required.
Boom cannot be lowered or raised
Faulty lift controls - Repair or replace.
Hydraulic pump failure - Repair or change pump if required.
Hydraulic control valve malfunction - Install a new valve or repair it.
Faulty hydraulic cylinder - Repair or install a new lift cylinder.
Insufficient hydraulic oil - Check and refill the hydraulic oil.
Bucket fails to tilt
Bucket tilt controls are defective - Repair or replace.
Damaged hydraulic oil pump - Repair or change pump if required.
Defective hydraulic control valve - Repair or replace hydraulic valve.
Faulty hydraulic bucket cylinder - Install a new cylinder or repair it.
Low hydraulic oil level - Checking hydraulic oil level and add if necessary.
Boom or bucket runs slowly
Hydraulic pump is defective - Check pump capacity and change if necessary.
Hydraulic cylinder leaking - Correct leakage by changing the seals.
Insufficient hydraulic fluid - Fill the system to proper hydraulic fluid level.
Hydraulic control valve is faulty or out of adjustment - Adjust correctly or repair.
Low hydraulic pressure - Correct setting is required.
Jerky operation of the bucket or boom
Air in the hydraulic system - Bleed air from system.
Hydraulic oil filter element is clogged - Clean or replace the filter.
Hydraulic fluid is dirty - The fluid must be changed.
Scratched cylinder rod or tube - Replace defective component.
Excessive hydraulic pump noise
Leaking hydraulic system or insufficient oil level - Refill hydraulic oil or repair leaks in system.
Hydraulic filter clogging - Clean or change the filter.
Suction line is clogged - Need to clean the suction line.
Air in hydraulic pump - Need to bleed air.
Pump parts are worn out - Install new hydraulic pump or rebuild it.
Battery won’t charge
Electrical wire connections are loose or corroded - Tighten or clean electrical wiring connections.
Faulty battery terminal connectors - Install new terminal connectors.
Battery is worn - Battery replacement required.
Belt is defective or loose - Adjust belt tension or change the belt.
Starter cranks slowly
Low battery output - Battery needs to be recharged.
Battery discharges quickly - Service or change the battery.
Battery cables are disconnected or terminals are faulty - Connect wiring properly or install new terminals.
Starter will not crank
Battery is low or faulty - Need to charge or replace the battery.
Battery wiring is disconnected or improperly connected - Inspect wiring and connect as required.
Low battery capacity - Recharge the battery.
Defective starter motor - Repair or replace starter.
