ASV RT-75 Track Loader Troubleshooting

The ASV RT-75 compact track loader is powered by 171 cu.in (2.8L) Cummins QSF2.8 4-cylinder turbocharged intercooled diesel engine with a rated power of 74 hp (55 kW) at 2800 rpm. The ASV RT75 is equipped with a 2-speed hydro transmission, radial-lift loader boom, 18" (475 mm) rubber tracks, and elevated track drive sprockets. The hydraulic system has a standard pump with fluid flow rate of 22.6 gpm (85.5 lpm). The hydraulic pressure is 3300 psi (227 bar). The track loader has a rated operating capacity of 2650 lbs (1202 kg) and tipping load of 7570 lbs (3437 kg). The lift height is 125.5" (3190 mm) to hinge pin, and dump height is 96" (2440 mm).

Engine Troubleshooting

Engine starts up hard or doesn't start

Air in fuel tank - Bleed fuel tank.
Dirty fuel filter - Change filter element.
Fuel injection nozzles are dirty or defective - Service or change injection nozzles.
Water or dirt in fuel system - Drain, flush, and service the system.
The valve clearance is not adjusted - Adjust valve clearance according to specifications.
Fuel injection pump is broken - Replacement or repair required.

Diesel starts but stalls suddenly

Dirty air cleaner - Clean or change cleaner.
Fuel filter plugged - Change filter element.
Fuel injection pump is leaking - Repair any leaks.
Dirty or defective injectors - Replace fuel injectors.
Fuel injection pump damage - Replace injection pump or repair it.

Engine stops unexpectedly during operation

Engine is not preheated - Normalize the temperature by warming up the engine.
Clogged fuel filter - Install new filter element.
Air in the fuel lines - Bleed the fuel lines.
Clogged or defective injection nozzles - Clean or change injection nozzles.
Improper fuel injection timing - Adjust the pump as required.

Engine stalls at low idle speed

Low idle speed setting is incorrect - Adjust as required.
Fuel injection pump is not operating properly - Replace or rebuild injection pump.
Fuel injector fault - Replace or clean fuel injectors.
Valve clearance is wrong - Have it adjusted.

Lack of engine power

Air filter is clogged - Clean or change filter.
Dirty or faulty injection nozzles - Test injection nozzles and change if necessary.
Fuel injection pressure is incorrect - Correct the pressure settings.
Improper valve clearance - Check and adjust as required.
Incorrect low idle setting - Correct the settings.
Fuel lines or hoses clogging - Clean fuel system lines and hoses.
Cylinder head gasket is damaged - Replace the gasket as required.
Piston rings are worn or defective - Change piston rings.

Engine overheated

Low coolant level - Add coolant and check the components of cooling system.
Engine oil insufficient - Fill the crankcase with engine oil.
Radiator core is dirty or radiator cap is damaged - Replace cap or clean radiator.
Excessive wear of the fan belt - Belt change is required.
Engine is under excessive load - Reduce engine load.

Low oil pressure

Oil level is insufficient - Fill crankcase to proper oil level.
Oil filter clogging - Change or clean engine oil filter element.
Incorrect oil viscosity - Use proper viscosity oil.
Crankshaft bearing has excessive oil clearance - Bearing needs to be changed.
Defective oil pump - Replace as required.

Engine knocking or noise

Low engine oil level - Fill up the oil to required level.
Engine is not fully warmed up - Warm up engine as required.
Improper fuel injection timing - Adjust the pump as required.
Incorrect low idle setting - Correct low idle adjustment.
Fuel injectors are dirty or defective - Test and replace fuel injectors if necessary.
Connecting rod is worn or misaligned - Need to change or align the connecting rod.
Worn or scored pistons - Install new pistons.

Drive System Troubleshooting

Drive system will not operate in either direction

Low hydraulic fluid level - Check and refill the hydraulic fluid.
Defective or blocked track mechanism - Remove blockage or repair tracks.
Relief valve is stuck - Service or change relief valve.
Suction line or hydraulic filter is clogged - Check, clean, or replace if required.
Worn or defective hand or foot controls - Replace or repair.
Defective drive pump or motor - Inspect and change as required.

Machine won't move straight or moves jerky

Damaged or jammed track mechanism - Repair or remedy jamming.
Loose or faulty tracks - Adjust track tension properly or repair tracks.
Track frame is blocked with debris, dirt, or foreign objects - Remove debris or foreign objects and clean track frame.

Reduced power

Plugged hydraulic oil filter - Replace hydraulic filter.
Faulty or opened relief valve - Close or change relief valve.
Defective or worn transmission parts - Check and replace defective components.
Input drive shaft is stuck - Repair or replace drive shaft.
Air in the hydraulic system - Need to bleed air.

Drive system is overheated

Hydraulic oil is insufficient - Check and refill the hydraulic oil.
Hydraulic fluid filter is clogged - Replace or service hydraulic filter.
Defective or worn relief valve - Service or change relief valve.
Drive pump or hydraulic motor malfunction - Replace or repair faulty component.
Hydraulic oil cooler is plugged - Cooling fins should be cleaned.
Transmission overloading - Load needs to be reduced.

Drive system is noisy

Oil viscosity is incorrect - Drain and refill with proper oil.
Air in hydraulic system - Need to bleed air.
Worn hydraulic motor or drive pump - Change or repair faulty component.
Mechanical parts of drive system are defective or worn - Inspect drive system and replace faulty components.

Hydraulics Troubleshooting

Hydraulic system overheating

Incorrect hydraulic pressure setting - Correct setting is required.
Misadjusted or defective main relief valve - Adjust relief valve or change if required.
Hydraulic fluid contamination - Hydraulic fluid change required.
Hydraulic oil level is low - Fill the hydraulic system with oil.

Bucket or lift arm runs slowly

Insufficient hydraulic fluid - Checking hydraulic fluid level and add if necessary.
Worn or unadjusted hydraulic control valve - Repair or adjust correctly.

Lift arm or bucket movements are jerky

There is air in the hydraulic system - Bleed hydraulic system.
Hydraulic oil filter element clogging - Change or clean oil filter.
Contaminated hydraulic oil - The oil must be changed.
Cylinder rod or tube is scuffed - Replace damaged component.

Hydraulic pump is excessively noisy

Lack of oil or hydraulic leakage - Refill hydraulic oil or repair leaks in system.
Dirty hydraulic filter - Service or change hydraulic filter.
Plugged suction line - Need to service the suction line.
Air trapped in hydraulic pump - Need to bleed air.
Pump parts are faulty - Replace or rebuild the pump.

Electrical Troubleshooting

Battery will not charge

Electrical wire connections are corroded or loose - Clean or tighten connections.
Battery terminal clamps are faulty - Change terminal clamps.
Battery dead cell - Use a new battery.
Loose or defective belt - Adjust belt tension or install a new belt.

Starter motor cranks slow

Low battery output voltage - Low battery charging, charge as required.
Battery runs out quickly - Battery needs service or replacement.
Battery cables are disconnected or terminals are faulty - Check cable connections and replace or service terminals.

Starter motor won't turn

Battery is low or faulty - Recharge or replace battery.
Battery wires are disconnected or incorrectly connected - Check wires and connect correctly.
Low battery output - Charge the battery.
Starter motor is defective - Starter should be changed.
