The Case 465 Series 3 skid steer loader driveline system components: a 274 cu.in (4.5L) Case 445T/M3 4-cylinder direct injection turbocharged diesel engine with a rated power of 90 hp (67 kW) and 2-speed hydro transmission. The hydraulic system has a pump with a rated capacity of 21.9 gal/min (83 l/min). The system pressure is 3050 psi (210 bar). The Case 465 is equipped with a vertical-lift boom, 120HS continuous roller chains, and 12x16.5 or 33-15.5x16.5 tires. The skid steer has a boom lifting force of 6500 lbs (2955 kg) and bucket breakout force of 7400 lbs (3365 kg). The rated operating capacity is 3000 lbs (1360 kg), and tipping load is 6000 lbs (2720 kg).
Engine Troubleshooting
Engine hard to start or will not start
Air in fuel tank - Bleed fuel tank.
Fuel filter element is clogged - Clean or replace the filter.
Dirty or faulty injection nozzles - Install a new kit of correctly balanced nozzles.
Water or dirt in fuel system - Drain, flush, and service the system.
Incorrect valve clearance - Check and adjust.
Damaged fuel injection pump - Change pump or rebuild it.
Engine starts but stalls suddenly
Plugged air cleaner - Clean or replace air cleaner element.
Clogged fuel filter - Clean or change the filter.
Problems with fuel injection pump tightness - Inspect fuel injection pump for leaks.
Fuel injectors are dirty or defective - Inspect fuel injectors and change as required.
Fuel injection pump malfunctioning - Replacement or repair required.
Engine shuts off while running
Engine is not preheated - Warm up to required temperature.
Clogged fuel filter - Clean or change the filter.
Air in the fuel system - Air bleeding.
Fuel injection nozzles are faulty or clogged - Change fuel injection nozzles.
Improper fuel injection timing - Adjust according to specifications.
Engine stalls when idle
Incorrectly adjusted low idle speed - Test and adjust.

Excessive valve clearance - Correct valve clearance needs to be set.
Diesel power loss
Air filter is clogged - Change or service air filter element.
Clogged or defective injection nozzles - Check and replace nozzles if required.
Fuel injection pressure is wrong - Test fuel injection pressure and adjust it correctly.
Valve out of adjustment - Adjust to proper valve clearance.
Incorrect low idle setting - Adjust low idling as recommended.
Fuel hoses or lines clogging - Service fuel hoses and lines.
Worn cylinder head gasket - Install new cylinder head gasket.
Defective or worn piston rings - Replace the piston rings as required.
Engine is overheated
Insufficient coolant fluid - The cooling system needs to be refilled and checked for faults.
Engine oil insufficient - Check oil level and add oil as required.
Clogged radiator core or damaged radiator cap - Replace cap or clean radiator.
Broken or loose fan belt - Belt change is required.
Diesel engine is overloaded - Load reducing is recommended.
Oil pressure too low
Oil level is insufficient - Add oil as required.
Dirty oil filter - Replace or clean engine oil filter element.
Wrong oil viscosity - Drain crankcase and refill with correct oil.
Crankshaft bearing has excessive oil clearance - Change bearings.
Oil pump malfunction - Inspect and change as required.
Engine knocks or noises
Lack of engine oil - Check and refill engine oil.
Engine is not warmed up to required temperature - Warm up the engine as required.
Incorrect adjustment of fuel injection pump timing - Use the correct fuel injection pump timing adjustment.
Low idle speed setting is incorrect - Adjustment required.
Dirty or defective injectors - Clean fuel injectors or change it.
Connecting rod is not aligned or worn - Need to replace or align the connecting rod.
Scored or worn pistons - Replace the pistons.
Drive system does not work in either direction
Insufficient hydraulic fluid - Check and refill the hydraulic fluid.
Drive chain malfunction - Inspect drive chain and replace faulty parts.
Input drive shaft is defective - Repair or install a new drive shaft.
Worn or defective relief valve - Repair or change.
Clogged suction line or hydraulic filter - Check, clean, or replace if required.
Foot or hand controls are defective - Repair or replace.
Defective drive pump or motor - Inspect and change as required.
Low power
Plugged hydraulic oil filter - Replace or service hydraulic filter.
Opened or defective relief valve - Close or change relief valve.
Faulty or damaged transmission components - Inspect and change faulty parts.
Input drive shaft malfunction - Replace or service the drive shaft.
Air in hydraulic system - Bleed hydraulic system.
Overheated drive system
Low hydraulic fluid level - Fill up the hydraulic fluid.
Hydraulic fluid filter is clogged - Replace hydraulic filter.
Defective or worn relief valve - Repair or change.
Hydraulic motor or drive pump is worn - Repair or replace faulty component.
Hydraulic oil cooler is plugged - Clean cooling fins as required.
Drive system is overloaded - Reduce the load.
Excessive noise
Wrong oil viscosity - Drain and refill with correct oil.
Air leaks in hydraulic system - Need to bleed air.
Hydraulic motor or drive pump failure - Replace or repair faulty component.
Mechanical components of drive system are defective or worn - Inspect drive system and replace faulty parts.
Hydraulic system has overheating

Low hydraulic oil level - Checking hydraulic oil level and add if necessary.
Defective or not adjusted hydraulic control valve - Repair or set properly.
Hydraulic pressure loss - Correct setting is required.
Jerky operation of the bucket or boom
Air trapped in hydraulic system - Bleed air from system.
Hydraulic oil filter is dirty - Service or change the hydraulic filter.

Scored cylinder tube or rod - Change failed component.
Hydraulic pump makes excessive noise

Pump sucks air - Need to bleed air.

Battery cannot be charged
Electrical cable connections are loose or corroded - Tighten or clean connections.
Defective electrical terminal connectors - Change terminal connectors.
Battery is defective - Battery change required.
Defective or loose belt - Need to adjust belt tension or replace belt.
Starter turning slow
Battery capacity is low - Battery is drained, charge it.
Battery is draining quickly - Battery needs to be serviced or replaced.
Bad battery terminals or disconnected wiring - Check battery wires and service or replace terminals.
Starter will not work
Battery is low or faulty - Need to charge or replace the battery.
Disconnected or improperly connected wiring harness - Inspect battery wiring harness and connect as required.
Low battery voltage - Battery needs to be recharged.
Starter motor is faulty - Starter should be replaced.
