Excessive transmission noise: Improper backlash or worn gears. Adjust backlash properly or replace the gears. Shift forks are bent or worn out. Shift forks need to be replaced. Worn or damaged shaft splines. Change the shaft. Transmission fluid insufficient. Fill the transmission housing to proper fluid level. Bearings are broken or worn. Change the bearings. Transmission oil contamination. Fill up with fresh transmission oil.
Gears are hard to shift: Gear shift linkage is rusty or worn. Install a new gear shift linkage. Malfunction or incorrect clutch adjustment. Adjust clutch or replace if required. Shift forks are worn or bent. Shift forks need to be changed. Worn gear shifting mechanism. Repair or change worn components if necessary.
Transmission oil pressure is low: Low fluid level. Checking transmission fluid level and add if necessary. Dirty transmission oil filter element (if equipped). Service or replace the transmission oil filter. Relief valve is damaged. Change the valve.
External oil leaks: Worn seals or gaskets. Gaskets or seal need to be replaced. Too much fluid in transmission. Excess fluid must be drained.
Hydrostatic Transmission Troubleshooting
HST transmission makes noise: Speed control linkage is worn or unadjusted. Adjust or replace linkage. Transmission is under excessive load. Reduce the load is required. Contaminated transmission fluid or low fluid level. Top up to proper level or change transmission fluid. Relief valve is stuck. Install a new relief valve. Damaged or worn components of hydrostatic transmission. Change or repair defective parts.
Transmission oil overheated: Transmission overload. Reduce loading. Clogged or damaged cooling components. Inspect all cooling components and service or replace if necessary. Lack of transmission fluid. Checking transmission fluid level and add if necessary. Dirty transmission fluid filter element. Clean or change transmission fluid filter.
Power is too low: Transmission oil level is low. Check and refill the transmission oil. Stuck relief valve. Replace valve as required. Worn or out of adjustment speed control linkage. Adjust or change linkage.
Transmission fluid leakage: Plugged oil return tube. Clean or replace return tube. Broken seals or gaskets. Replace worn seal or gaskets. Transmission case internal pressure is too high. Repair or replace damaged components.
New Holland 1925 Hydraulics Troubleshooting
Excessive hydraulic system heat: Improper hydraulic oil type. The proper type of hydraulic oil must be used. Contaminated hydraulic fluid. Change hydraulic fluid. There is air in the hydraulic system. Bleed hydraulic system. Main relief valve failure. Relief valve must be changed.
Hydraulic oil pressure too low: Insufficient hydraulic oil. Check and refill the hydraulic oil. Dirty hydraulic fluid filter element. Clean the hydraulic filter element or replace if necessary. Leaks in hydraulic lines. Find leaks in the system and fix it. Not adjusted hydraulic control valve. Need to adjust. Hydraulic pump is defective. Change or repair hydraulic fluid pump. Hydraulic cylinder is faulty. Repair or install a new hydraulic cylinder.
3-point hitch can't lift or lifts too slowly: Damaged hydraulic pump. Install a new hydraulic oil pump. Main relief valve malfunction. Install a new relief valve. Hydraulic spool valve is faulty. Repair or replace hydraulic valve. Defective hydraulic cylinder. Change or repair hydraulic cylinder. Hydraulic fluid is insufficient. Fill the system to proper hydraulic fluid level. Hydraulic oil filter is clogged. Change the hydraulic filter element or service if required. Hitch is under excessive load. Load needs to be reduced.
Three-point hitch cannot be dropped or dropping is too slow: Hydraulic cylinder is defective. Repair or install a new hydraulic cylinder. Hydraulic spool valve is not set properly. Set the spool valve properly. Worn hitch cross shaft. Replace the shaft. The hitch is not adjusted. Adjust as required.
Hitch drop or lift is jerky: Dirty hydraulic oil. The oil must be changed. Faulty hydraulic pump. Repair or replace hydraulic fluid pump. Air trapped in hydraulic system. Bleed air from system.
