New Holland L175 Skid Steer Troubleshooting

The New Holland L175 skid steer loader driveline system components: a 135 cu.in (2.2L) Shibaura N844LT 4-cycle 4-cylinder turbocharged liquid-cooled diesel engine with a rated power of 60 hp (45 kW), and 1-speed or 2-speed hydrostatic transmission. The hydraulic system has a pump with a rated capacity of 17.2 gal/min (65.2 l/min). The system pressure is 2500 psi (172 bar). The New Holland L175 is equipped with 80 HD roller chains and 12x16.5 tires. The skid steer loader has a boom lifting force of 3000 lbs (1360 kg) and bucket breakout force of 4312 lbs (1955 kg). The rated operating capacity is 2000 lbs (907 kg), and tipping load is 4000 lbs (1814 kg).

Engine Troubleshooting

Engine starts up hard or won't start

Air in fuel system - Bleed fuel system.

Dirt or water in fuel system - Drain water or flush dirt from the system.

Engine stalls after running

Engine not warmed up - Warm up engine as required.
Clogged fuel filter - Clean the filter or install new filter element.
Air in the fuel system - Air bleeding.
Faulty or dirty injection nozzles - Install a new kit of correctly balanced nozzles.
Fuel injection pump timing is wrong - Adjust according to specifications.

Engine stalls at low idle speed

Too low idle RPM - Correct low idle adjustment.
Defective fuel injection pump - Repair or install a new fuel pump.
Clogged or defective injectors - Clean or replace fuel injectors.
Improper valve clearance - Check and adjust as required.

Engine power is too low

Air filter is clogged - Clean or change filter.
Fuel injection nozzles are damaged - Test injection nozzles and change if necessary.
Insufficient fuel injection pressure - Check the fuel injection pressure and adjust if necessary.
The valve clearance is incorrect - Check and adjust as required.
Incorrectly set low idle speed - Correct low idle settings.

Engine overheats

Insufficient oil pressure

Abnormal engine knocking or noise

Drive System Troubleshooting

Machine will not move forward or backward

Hydraulic oil level is low - Check and refill the hydraulic oil.
Worn drive chain - Inspect drive chain and replace defective parts.
Input drive shaft is not working properly - Drive shaft need to be replaced or repair.
Faulty relief valve - Relief valve need to be replaced or repair.
Suction line or hydraulic filter is plugged - Replace hydraulic filter or clean suction line.
Faulty foot or hand controls - Repair or replace.
Drive pump or motor is damaged - Check and repair if required.

Power is too low

Dirty hydraulic oil filter - Change or clean hydraulic filter.
Opened or worn relief valve - Close or change relief valve.

Input drive shaft is stuck - Repair or install a new drive shaft.
Hydraulic system is leaking air - Air bleeding is required.

Drive system overheats

Low hydraulic fluid level - Add fluid as required.

Hydraulic pump is excessively noisy

Air trapped in hydraulic pump - Bleed air.

Electrical Troubleshooting

Battery is not charging

Loose or corroded wire connections - Tighten or service connections.
Faulty battery terminal clamps - Terminal clamps should be changed.
Battery is defective - Replace the battery.
Defective or loose belt - Belt needs to be adjusted or replaced.

Starter cranks slow

Battery capacity is low - Battery is drained, recharge it.
Battery drains quickly - Battery needs to be serviced or replaced.
Battery terminals are corroded or wires are disconnected - Connect wiring properly or install new terminals.

Starter doesn't crank

Battery is discharged or worn - Recharge or replace battery.
Wiring harness is disconnected or improperly connected - Check wiring harness and connect as required.
Low battery output voltage - Battery needs to be recharged.
Starter motor is faulty - Change or repair starter.
