Engine difficult to start or will not start: Dirty fuel filter. Replace the filter element. Air trapped in fuel system. Bleed air. Clogged or defective injection nozzles. Clean or change injection nozzles. Fuel injection pump damage. Replace injection pump or repair it.
Engine stalls during operation: Fuel injection pump timing is wrong. Check the fuel injection pump timing adjustment. Fuel filter element clogging. Service or replace the filter. Low coolant temperature. Warm up engine as required.

Difficult to shift gears: Rusty or worn gear shift linkage. Install new shift linkage. Improperly adjusted or worn clutch. Adjust or change the clutch. Worn or bent gear shift forks. Replace the shift forks. Defective parts in the gearshift mechanism. Replace defective parts.
