Engine hard to start or doesn't start: Dirty fuel filter. Replace filter element. Air in the fuel pipes. Bleed the fuel pipes. Defective or clogged injection nozzle. Replace injection nozzles. Faulty fuel injection pump. Replacement or repair required.

Engine shuts off suddenly while running: Improper setting of fuel injection pump timing. Check the fuel injection pump timing adjustment. Dirty fuel filter. Clean or change the filter. Engine is cold. Warm up engine as required.

Diesel starts but immediately stops: Fuel filter element is clogged. Service the filter. Fuel injection pump is faulty. Change or repair the pump. Air filter plugged. Clean or change the filter.

Engine overheated: Clogged radiator fins or leaking radiator cap. Clean radiator or change cap. Low coolant level. Add coolant fluid and inspect the cooling system for leaks. Fan belt is worn or faulty. The fan belt needs to be replaced. Not enough engine oil. Checking oil level and add if necessary.

Diesel engine is losing power: Fuel injection nozzles are clogged or faulty. If necessary, replace with a new nozzle. Restricted fuel lines or hoses. Clean fuel lines and hoses. Clogged air cleaner. Change air filter element. Cylinder-head gasket is broken. Replace the gasket as required.

Engine noises or knocks: Engine has not warmed up to the recommended temperature. Engine is not warmed up to the required temperature. Lack of engine oil. Need to add engine oil. Improper fuel injection timing. Set the fuel pump timing correctly. Worn or scored pistons. Pistons need to be replaced. Connecting rod is misaligned or worn. Need to align or replace the connecting rod.

Engine stalls while idling: Incorrectly set low idle speed. Need to adjust idle speed. The valve clearance is not adjusted. Check and adjust as required. Fuel injection pump failure. Change or repair the pump.

Oil pressure too low: Engine oil insufficient. Add oil to the engine crankcase. Oil pump is defective. Replace as required. Dirty oil filter. Change or service engine oil filter.

Transmission noises: Backlash is incorrect or gears are damaged. Install new gears and set backlash correctly. Shift forks are worn or bent. Replace the shift forks. Damaged or worn shaft splines. Transmission fluid change required.

Gear shift is hard: Worn or rusty gear shift linkage. Install a new gear shift linkage. Unadjusted or worn clutch. Replace or adjust clutch. Shift forks are worn or bent. Shift forks need to be changed. Defective parts in the gearshift mechanism. Replace defective parts.

External fluid leaks: Worn seals or gaskets. Install new gaskets or seal. Transmission fluid level is high. Correct the fluid level.

Insufficient hydraulic fluid pressure: Low hydraulic fluid level. Checking hydraulic fluid level and add if necessary. Clogged hydraulic fluid filter. Battery is not charging: Electrical cable connections are corroded or loose. Service or tighten connections. Faulty electrical terminal connectors. Change terminal connectors. Battery bad cell. Replace the battery. Loose or defective belt. Adjust belt tension or install a new belt.
