Engine difficult to start or won't start: Dirty fuel filter. Clean or change the filter. Air in the fuel lines. Bleed the fuel lines. Fuel injection nozzles are faulty or clogged. Clean or change injection nozzles. Fuel injection pump malfunction. Change or repair the pump.

Engine shuts off suddenly while running: Improper setting of fuel injection pump timing. Check the fuel injection pump timing adjustment. Dirty fuel filter. Install new filter element. Engine is not preheated. Warm up engine as required.

Engine starts and stalls suddenly: Fuel filter element is clogged. Replace filter element. Fuel injection pump malfunctioning. Replace or repair injection pump. Clogged air filter element. Air filter maintenance required.

Engine is overheated: Radiator fins are clogged or radiator cap is faulty. Install new cap or clean radiator. Engine has a lack of coolant. The cooling system needs to be refilled and checked for faults. Broken or loose fan belt. If necessary, replace the belt. Not enough engine oil. Add oil to the engine crankcase.

Engine loses power: Clogged injection nozzle. Check and replace nozzles if required. Dirt in the fuel lines or hoses. Clean fuel system hoses and lines. Air cleaner is dirty. Clean or change. Cylinder head gasket defective. Install new cylinder head gasket.
