Engine starts hard or doesn't start: Fuel filter plugged. Service the filter. There is air in the fuel system. Bleed the system. Fuel injection nozzles are faulty or clogged. Check injection nozzles and replace if required. Fuel injection pump failure. Install a new fuel pump or repair.

Engine stops running suddenly: Fuel injection pump timing is wrong. Adjust fuel injection pump as required. Fuel filter element is clogged. Service the filter. Engine is cold. Warm up the engine.

Diesel starts but then stops: Dirty fuel filter. Service the filter. Fuel injection pump damage. Repair or install a new fuel pump. Restricted intake air. Change air filter element.

Engine overheating: Dirty radiator core or defective radiator cap. Change cap or clean radiator. Engine coolant is insufficient. Add coolant fluid and inspect the cooling system for leaks. Loose or damaged fan belt. Replace as required. Not enough engine oil. Fill the crankcase with engine oil.
