Workmaster 75 Engine Troubleshooting

Engine difficult to start or doesn't start: Fuel filter plugging. Replace filter element. There is air in the fuel system. Bleed the system. Damaged or dirty injection nozzles. Service or change injection nozzles. Fuel injection pump malfunction. Rebuild or change fuel pump.

Engine shuts off suddenly while running: Timing of fuel injection pump is incorrect. Adjust the pump as required. Fuel filter element is clogged. Change the filter element. Engine is not warmed up to the required temperature. Warm up engine as required.

Diesel starts but then stops: Fuel filter plugging. Change filter element. Fuel injection pump malfunctioning. Change pump or rebuild it. Air filter clogged. Clean or replace element.

Engine overheating: Clogged radiator core or damaged radiator cap. Clean radiator or replace cap. Coolant level is low. Fill radiator to proper level and check components for faults. Fan belt slipping or worn. If necessary, replace the belt. Insufficient engine oil. Need to add engine oil.

Diesel engine loses power: Fuel injection nozzles are damaged or dirty. Change fuel injection nozzles. Fuel hoses or lines are dirty. Clean fuel system hoses and lines. Dirty air filter. Change air filter element. Defective cylinder head gasket. Cylinder-head gasket replacement required.

Engine knocking sound or abnormal noise: Coolant temperature is low. Engine is not warmed up to the required temperature. Low engine oil level. Add oil to the engine crankcase. Fuel injection pump timing is wrong. Adjust fuel injection pump as required. Scored or worn pistons. Pistons need to be replaced. Connecting rod is worn or misaligned. Need to align or replace the connecting rod.

Engine stalls when idling: Too low idle RPM. Adjust low idle speed. Valve out of adjustment. Correct valve clearance needs to be set. Fuel injection pump damage. Change or repair the pump.

Workmaster 75 Transmission Troubleshooting

Excessive transmission noise: Improper backlash or worn gears. Adjust backlash properly or replace the gears. Shift forks are worn or bent. Change defective shift forks. Stuck or worn shaft splines. Shaft need to be changed. Transmission oil insufficient. Fill up the transmission oil. Bearings are cracked or worn. Install new bearings. Transmission fluid is contaminated. Change the fluid.

Hard shifts: Worn or rusty gear shift linkage. Shift linkage need to be replaced. Unadjusted or worn clutch. Clutch needs to be replaced or adjusted. Shift forks are bent or worn out. Install new shift forks. Gearshift mechanism is damaged. Replace or repair the mechanism.

Low transmission fluid pressure: Low oil level. Need to add transmission oil. Dirty transmission fluid filter element (if equipped). Service or change transmission fluid filter. Relief valve malfunction. Install a new valve.

Transmission oil leaks: Worn seals or gaskets. Install new seal or gaskets. Transmission fluid level is exceeded. Excess fluid must be drained.

Hydraulic system is overheated: Hydraulic oil type is wrong. Correct type of oil must be used. Hydraulic fluid contamination. Change hydraulic fluid. Air trapped in hydraulic system. Bleed air from system. Main relief valve malfunction. Relief valve replacement required.

Hydraulic oil pressure too low: Hydraulic oil is insufficient. Checking hydraulic oil level and add if necessary. Dirty hydraulic fluid filter. Clean or change hydraulic filter. Hydraulic piping is leaking. Inspect hydraulic system for leaks and repair it. Hydraulic control valve block is not set properly. Use the proper setting. Damaged hydraulic pump. Steering wheel has too much free-play: Steering column shaft or coupling is worn out. Change faulty part. Faulty steering pump. Install a new steering pump. Starter cranks slowly: Low battery output voltage. Low battery charging, charge as required. Battery does not hold charge. Service battery or replace it. Battery cables are disconnected or terminals are faulty. Check wire connections and change or service terminals.
