Gehl 6625DX Skid Steer Troubleshooting

The Gehl 6625 DX skid steer loader driveline system components: a 183 cu.in (3L) Perkins 204.30 four-cylinder liquid-cooled diesel engine with a rated power of 70 hp (52 kW), and single-speed hydrostatic transmission. The hydraulic system has a pump with a rated capacity of 23 gal/min (87.1 l/min). The system relief pressure is 3000 psi (207 bar). The Gehl 6625DX is equipped with a radial-lift loader boom, 80H roller chains, and 12x16.5 or 31-15.5x15 tires. The skid steer loader has a maximum lift height of 123" (3125 mm) to hinge pin and dump height of 98.8" (2510 mm). The rated operating capacity is 2050 lbs (930 kg), and tipping load is 4100 lbs (1860 kg).

Engine Troubleshooting

Engine hard to start or will not start

Air in fuel tank - Bleed fuel tank.
Fuel filter element clogging - Replace filter element.
Burnt or defective injection nozzle - Change fuel injection nozzles.
Dirt or water in fuel system - Drain water or flush dirt from the system.
Improper valve clearance - Adjust valve clearance according to specifications.

Engine starts and stalls suddenly

Plugged air cleaner - Clean or change cleaner.
Fuel filter plugging - Install new filter element.

Engine stops unexpectedly during operation

Low coolant temperature - Warm up the engine to required temperature.
Clogged fuel filter - Service or replace the filter.
Air in fuel tank - Bleed fuel tank.
Fuel injection nozzles are clogged or faulty - Clean or change injection nozzles.
Wrong setting of fuel injection pump timing - Set up as recommended.

Engine stops while idle

Low idle speed set incorrectly - Adjust the low idle speed.
Fuel injection pump is faulty - Repair or install new pump.
Clogged or defective injectors - Replace or clean fuel injectors.
The valve clearance is not adjusted - Have it adjusted.

Engine power is too low

Plugged air filter - Clean or replace element.
Fuel injection nozzles are damaged or dirty - Check injection nozzles and replace if required.
Fuel injection pressure is wrong - Check the fuel injection pressure and adjust if necessary.
Improper valve clearance - Adjustment procedure required.
Low idle speed setting is incorrect - Need to adjust idle speed.

Engine overheated

Oil pressure is low

Crankshaft bearing has excessive oil clearance - Install new bearings.
Worn oil pump - Inspect and change as required.

Engine knocking sound or abnormal noise

Lack of engine oil - Checking oil level and add if necessary.

Loss of power

Dirty hydraulic oil filter - Replace or service hydraulic filter.

Air in the hydraulic system - Bleed air from system.

Drive system overheating

Low hydraulic fluid level - Fill up the hydraulic fluid.

Drive pump or hydraulic motor is damaged - Repair or replace faulty component.

Drive system is noisy

Incorrect oil viscosity - Drain and refill with proper oil.

Hydraulic system overheating

Excessive hydraulic pump noise

Air in hydraulic pump - Remove air from hydraulics.

Electrical Troubleshooting

Battery won’t charge

Electrical cable connections are loose or corroded - Tighten or service cable connections.
Faulty battery terminal clamps - Terminal clamps should be changed.
Battery failing - Replace the battery.
Belt is worn or loose - Change belt or adjust belt tension.

Starter motor cranks slow

Battery capacity is low - Low battery charging, charge as required.
Battery is not holding charge - Service battery or change it.
Faulty battery terminals or disconnected cables - Check cables and service or change terminals.

Starter doesn't crank

Battery is low or faulty - Battery needs to be recharged or replaced.
Wiring harness is disconnected or improperly connected - Check wiring harness and connect as required.
Battery power is low - Low battery charging, charge as required.
Damaged starter motor - Starter should be changed.
