Engine stalls while running: Fuel injection pump timing is wrong. Use the correct fuel injection pump timing adjustment. Clogged fuel filter. Install new filter element. Engine not warmed up. Warm up the engine.

Engine starts and immediately shuts off: Fuel filter element clogging. Replace the filter element. Faulty fuel injection pump. Install a new pump or rebuild. Dirty air filter element. Clean or replace the element.

Engine overheating: Radiator core is dirty or radiator cap is damaged. Replace cap or clean radiator. Engine coolant is insufficient. Add coolant and check the components of cooling system. Fan belt is loose or defective. Change the fan belt. Engine oil level low. Fill up the oil to required level.

Engine is not running at maximum power: Fuel injection nozzles are clogged or faulty. Test injection nozzles and change if necessary. Fuel hoses or lines are dirty. Service fuel lines and hoses. Dirty air cleaner. Clean or change the filter. Leaking cylinder head gasket. Install a new gasket.

Engine knocking sound or abnormal noise: Engine not warmed up. Warm up engine as required. Engine oil level is low. Check and refill engine oil. Incorrect adjustment of fuel injection pump timing. Set up as recommended. Worn or broken pistons. Have pistons replaced. Misaligned or defective connecting rod. Connecting rod needs to be aligned or changed.

Engine stops at low idle speed: Low idle speed setting is incorrect. Correct the settings. Valve clearance is not correct. Correct valve clearance. Fuel injection pump is not working correctly. Change or repair the pump.

Insufficient oil pressure: Low crankcase oil level. Checking oil level and add if necessary. Defective oil pump. Remove and inspect oil pump. Oil filter element clogging. Change or service engine oil filter.

Ford 2000 Transmission Troubleshooting

Transmission is excessively noisy: Backlash is incorrect or gears are damaged. Adjust backlash correctly or replace the gears. Shift forks are bent or worn out. Replace the shift forks. Stuck or worn shaft splines. Replace the shaft. Low fluid level. Checking transmission fluid level and add if necessary. Worn or broken bearings. Install new bearings. Transmission oil is dirty. Transmission oil change required.

Hard shifts: Stuck or worn gear shift linkage. Install a new gear shift linkage. Worn or unadjusted clutch. Clutch replacement or adjustment required. Worn or bent shift forks. Shift forks need to be replaced. Worn gear shifting mechanism. Repair or change worn components if necessary.

Lack of transmission oil pressure: Low fluid level. Add fluid to the transmission housing. Transmission oil filter element clogging (if equipped). Service or replace the transmission oil filter. Stuck relief valve. Replace valve as required.

Transmission fluid leakage: Damaged seals or gaskets. Seals and gaskets need to be replaced. Transmission fluid level is exceeded. Excess fluid must be drained.

Ford 2000 Hydraulics Troubleshooting

Hydraulic system is overheated: Improper hydraulic fluid type. Use the proper type of hydraulic fluid. Dirty hydraulic fluid. The fluid must be changed. Air in hydraulic lines. Bleed hydraulic lines. Main relief valve failure. Relief valve replacement required.

Hydraulic oil pressure too low: Insufficient hydraulic fluid. Add fluid as required. Clogged hydraulic fluid filter element. Service the hydraulic filter or change if required. Leaks in hydraulic lines. Check the hydraulic system and fix leaks. Hydraulic control valve is not set properly. Adjust properly. Defective hydraulic pump. Replace or repair hydraulic oil pump. Damaged hydraulic cylinder. Replace or repair hydraulic cylinder.

Hitch won't raise or raises slowly: Defective hydraulic pump. Replace or repair hydraulic fluid pump. Main relief valve is faulty. Install a new relief valve. Hydraulic spool valve block is defective. Repair or change hydraulic valve. Hydraulic cylinder is faulty. Change or repair hydraulic cylinder. Low hydraulic fluid level. Fill the system to proper hydraulic fluid level. Clogged hydraulic fluid filter. Hydraulic filter maintenance required. Heavy load on the hitch. Reduce hitch load.

3-point hitch won't lower or lowers slowly: Hydraulic cylinder is faulty. Repair or change hydraulic cylinder. Incorrect adjusted hydraulic spool valve. Adjust the spool valve correctly. Damaged lift arm shaft. Replace the shaft. 3-point hitch is out of adjustment. Need to make adjustments.

Jerky lowering or lifting of the hitch: Dirty hydraulic oil. The oil must be changed. Faulty hydraulic pump. Change or repair hydraulic oil pump. There is air in the hydraulic system. Bleed hydraulic system. Hydraulic spool valve is defective. Replace or repair the valve. Damaged hydraulic cylinder. Replace or repair hydraulic cylinder.

Ford 2000 Steering Troubleshooting

Excessive free play of steering wheel: Steering column bearing or shaft is extremely worn out. Replace defective components. Loose or worn steering linkage parts. Inspect and replace as required. Steering gearbox bearings are worn. Replace the bearings. Find faulty parts and change as required.

Steering wheel turns hard: Steering column or steering knuckle sticking. Inspect knuckle and steering column, replace damaged parts. Steering box components are worn out. Repair steering gearbox. Damaged drag link or tie rod. Replace or rebuild. Not enough oil in steering box. Add oil to steering gearbox. Not adjusted toe-in alignment. Tires are incorrectly inflated. Inflate as required.

Tractor pulls to left or right: Loose or worn steering linkage components. Inspect and change as required. Damaged steering knuckle bushing. Install a new knuckle bushing. Tire pressure uneven. Inflate the tires correctly. Incorrect toe-in. Check toe-in and correct.

Ford 2000 Electrical System Troubleshooting

Battery does not charge: Electrical cable connections are corroded or loose. Tighten or clean electrical wiring connections. Faulty battery terminal connectors. Change terminal connectors. Defective battery. Use a new battery. Belt is defective or loose. Adjust belt tension or change the belt.
