Ford 2110 Engine Troubleshooting

Engine difficult to start or won't start: Fuel filter plugging. Replace the filter element. There is air in the fuel system. Bleed the system. Dirty or damaged injection nozzles. Replace injection nozzles. Fuel injection pump is not working correctly. Rebuild or install a new injection pump.

Diesel shuts off while driving: Improper setting of fuel injection pump timing. Set it up as required. Fuel filter plugged. Change filter element. Low coolant temperature. Engine is not warmed up to the required temperature.

Diesel starts but immediately stops: Dirty fuel filter. Clean or replace the filter. Faulty fuel injection pump. Repair or install a new fuel pump. Clogged air filter. Clean air cleaner element.

Engine overheating: Radiator core is dirty or radiator cap is damaged. Clean radiator or replace cap. Lack of engine coolant. Fill radiator to proper level and check components for faults. Damaged or worn fan belt. Replace as required. Lack of engine oil. Add oil to the engine crankcase.

Low engine power: Dirty or damaged injection nozzles. If necessary, replace with a new nozzle. Fuel hoses or lines are clogged. Fuel hoses and lines must be clean. Dirty air filter. Clean or change the filter. Cylinder head gasket is blown. Install new cylinder head gasket.

Engine noises or knocks: Coolant temperature is low. Warm up engine as required. Engine oil level is insufficient. Fill up the oil to required level. Improper fuel injection timing. Use the correct fuel injection pump timing adjustment. Pistons are broken or worn. Replace the pistons. Connecting rod failure or misalignment. Connecting rod must be aligned or replaced.

Engine stalls at low idle speed: Low idle speed set incorrectly. Need to adjust idle speed. The valve clearance is incorrect. Correct valve clearance. Fuel injection pump damage. Install a new pump or rebuild.

Oil pressure is low: Low oil level. Checking oil level and add if necessary. Defective oil pump. Remove and inspect oil pump. Dirty oil filter element. Clean or change engine oil filter.

Excessive transmission noise: Incorrect backlash or gears are worn. Replace defective gears or set backlash properly. Shift forks are bent or worn out. Install new shift forks. Transmission fluid leaking: Seals or gaskets are worn. Change defective gaskets or seal. Transmission fluid level is exceeded. Excess fluid must be drained.

Ford 2110 Hydraulic System Troubleshooting

Hydraulic system overheating: Hydraulic oil type is wrong. Correct type of oil must be used. Hydraulic oil is contaminated. Fill up with fresh hydraulic oil. Air in the hydraulic system. Air bleeding. Main relief valve is faulty. Replace relief valve.
