Engine difficult to start or won't start: Fuel filter element is clogged. Service the filter. Air in fuel system. Bleed fuel system. Clogged or defective injection nozzles. Inspect nozzles and replace if necessary. Fuel injection pump is faulty. Replace injection pump or repair it.

Engine stops suddenly during operation: Timing of fuel injection pump is incorrect. Set up as recommended. Fuel filter element is clogged. Filter maintenance required. Engine is not preheated. Warm up the engine.

Diesel starts and stops: Fuel filter plugging. Replace filter element. Fuel injection pump is not working correctly. Repair or install new pump. Clogged air filter element. Change air filter element.

Engine overheats: Clogged radiator fins or damaged radiator cap. Change cap or clean radiator. Not enough coolant. Refill to the correct level and inspect system for leaks. Fan belt slipping or worn. The fan belt needs to be replaced. Engine oil level is insufficient. Need to add engine oil.
