Changing Transmission Oil and Filter

Stop engine and engage park brake. Remove mower from John Deere 325 tractor. Place drain pan so it is under drain plug located on the bottom of the front right hand corner of transmission case. Remove drain plug to drain oil. Remove transmission internal filter access cap. Remove spring and spacer, if equipped. Discard spring and spacer. Remove filter. Install new filter with spring side toward access cap. Install and tighten access cap. Install drain plug in bottom of transmission case. Replace green in-line filter located in front of the transmission on the left hand side of the tractor. Loosen nut and disconnect line from filter. Unscrew filter from line. Install new filter and o-rings. Remove dip stick. Add oil. Install and tighten dip stick. Start engine and check for oil leaks around drain plug, green filter, and internal filter access cap. Unlock park brake and drive tractor forward and backward a few times. Stop engine. Wait a minimum of 3 minutes, engine should be cold. Check oil level. Add oil if required. Install mower.
