Massey Ferguson 399 Service Intervals

Every 10 Hours or Daily Checking

Engine oil level checking. If the engine oil level is low, fill in fresh oil.

Check the transmission/hydraulic fluid level. If transmission/hydraulic oil is too low, fill in new oil.

Check engine primary/secondary air filters. Replace with a new one if necessary.

Check the coolant level. If the coolant level is low, top it up.

Check idle engine speed, steering unit, service brakes and parking brake. If damages are found, repair it.

Oil And Filter Change

Every 250 hours

Replace engine oil. Recommended motor oil: SAE 10W-30, 15W-30, 20W-20. API service classification SE, SF, CC, CD, SG. How much to add: Engine Oil Capacity - 15.2 qt (14.3 L). After installing a new filter, check that the engine oil level is correct.

Change engine oil filter. Engine oil filter part number: 1447031M2. When installing a new filter, flush the filter housing from dirt. When installation is complete, check the oil level. Add oil if necessary.

Check engine primary air filter element. Change if necessary. Air filter part number - 3595500V1/3595503V1.

Inspect engine secondary air filter element. Replace as required. Part number - 3595501M1.

Changing hydraulic filter. Part number of hydraulic filter: 3595175M1 (Spin-on), 1687042V91 (Lift Pump), 3771122V92 (w/Tubed End). When installation procedure is complete, check the transmission/hydraulic oil level. Add fluid if required.

Clean cab air filter element. Replace as required. Cab air filter part number: 3478327V1/3614023V91 or 3595119M92/3596978M91.

Every 500 hours

Replace engine fuel filter. Fuel filter part number - 836218V92. Check diesel fuel pump operation.

Every 1000 hours

Transmission/hydraulic fluid change. Recommended oil - Permatran 821XL, M1139, M1144, SAE 10W-30. Fluid capacity: w/ Spacer - 12.5 gal (47.4 L), w/o Spacer - 11.5 gal (43.4 L). After installing a new filter, check that the transmission/hydraulic oil level is correct.

Steering fluid filter replacement. Steering filter part number: 3800305V91. After installation, checking the steering fluid level is recommended. If necessary, add it. Steering Oil Capacity - 1.25 qt (1.2 L).

Change front axle fluid. Front Axle Oil Capacity - 1.5 gal (5.8 L), Front Hubs: 2.6 pt. (1.3 L).

Replace filter and engine oil. Service lubrication system components.

Change engine air cleaner elements.

Install a new steering filter element and fill with fresh steering oil.

Change hydraulic/transmission oil.

Replace hydraulic filter.

Replace cab air filter.

Drain water from fuel tank and change fuel filter.

Clean radiator and oil cooler fins.

Drain, flush and refill cooling system. Cooling System Capacity - 5.3 gal (20.1 L).

Inspect all hoses and clamps.

Check battery charging.

Adjust engine valve clearance.

Check and adjust injection pump.
