Disconnect hydraulics - multicoupler: Push in the red knob and rotate the handle upward to disconnect pins and coupler halves. Remove the 220R loader coupler and store on the hose guide. Avoid loader damage from contact with the JD 2038R tractor fender or wheel. Handle must be in the locked (DOWN) position. Lower the cover to protect the connections. Rotate the handle downward until locked in the DOWN position. Lower the cover.

Disconnect hydraulics - quick couplers: Push back the collar on the female coupler and pull out the male coupler. Install the dust plug in the female coupler and cap on the male coupler. Repeat for all the remaining hose connections. Store the hoses on the boom. Do not lay the hoses on the ground.

270B Backhoe Bucket Install - Align holes in bucket ears with holes in dipperstick. Insert spacer, if necessary, between dipperstick and bucket to minimize side-to-side clearance. Install pivot pin. Secure with cap screw and nut. Tighten nut until cap screw threads are extending past nut. Cap screw must not be tight. Align holes in bucket with holes in link. Insert spacer, if required, between link and bucket to minimize side-to-side clearance. Install pivot pin. Secure with cap screw and nut. Tighten nut until cap screw threads extend past nut.

270B Backhoe Service Intervals

After Assembly - Lubricate all pivot points and grease fittings.
After Each Use - Clean backhoe of all oil and debris.
As Needed - Replace bucket teeth.
Every 10 Hours - Lubricate all cylinders. Lubricate swing frame, boom pivot and dipperstick pivot.
Every 50 Hours - Lubricate stabilizer pivots. Check hardware torque.
Every 100 Hours - Clean inside valve covers.

Install Gearbox and Tensioner Pulley - Place gearbox support over bolt and rotate slot into position at location. Drop support down onto bolt at location. Route belt between left legs of gearbox support and around gearbox pulley. Install nuts on bolts. Install bushing on left rear bolt. It may be necessary to grasp end of bolt and pull upward to install bushing. Position tensioner pulley on top of bushing. Install washer and secure with nut. Route belt around tensioner pulley. Attach spring to tensioner arm and gearbox support. Tighten nut to 73 Nm (53.8 lb-ft). Tighten remaining three nuts to 120 Nm (88.5 lb-ft). Check all pulleys for proper belt alignment. Install woodruff key in slot in gearbox shaft. Coat shaft with MPG-2 anti-seize lubricant or equivalent. Install male coupler onto gearbox shaft and secure with set screw. Male coupler and set screw are provided in lift kit.

Replacing Shear Bolts - A shear bolt is installed in each end of auger. The shear bolts will break when 59" snowblower hits a solid object. This protects drive system from damage. If you hit a solid object, stop snow blower immediately. Stop engine. Lower snow blower. Lock park brake. Remove broken shear bolt. Find and correct cause for shearing. Install new shear bolts. Use one of shear bolts stored in rear housing.
