Tighten D160 Loader and Hood Guard Hardware - Tighten hardware on both sides to specifications. M12 Hardware Torque - 140 Nm (105 lb-ft). M16 Hardware Torque - 310 Nm (229 lb-ft). Tighten twelve nuts (inside frame) on pivot pins, six on each side of loader, to specification. Nuts Torque - 150 Nm (111 lb-ft).

Check Transmission/Hydraulic Oil Level - Cycle all cylinders three or four times. Retract bucket cylinders completely and lower D160 loader to ground. Shut off tractor engine and remove key. Check transmission/hydraulic oil level. Lubricate bearings on single lever ICV. Pull off boot and slide up shaft. Apply grease liberally to the outside surface of each ball joint. Move lever in all directions to ensure lubricant penetrates ball joints. Install boot.

Detach 305 Loader - Remove ballast box from JD 3038E tractor. Raise boom slightly and dump bucket to 45 degrees below level. Lower bucket to ground and apply slight pressure. Do not raise front tires off ground. Shut off tractor engine. Install parking stands. Start tractor, raise 305 loader, and roll back bucket. Lower boom until parking stands and bucket rest on the ground. Manipulate the bucket position until tension is removed from pivot pins. Do not raise parking stands off ground. Shut off tractor engine and remove key. Remove quick lock pins. Remove pivot pins. Remove storage hooks from John Deere 3038E tractor tool box. Support the cylinders in hooks and hang pivot pins (with quick lock pins) on hooks. Move control lever up, down, and side-to-side several times to relieve hydraulic system pressure. Detach hydraulic couplers. Install dust caps and plugs on couplers. Hang loader hoses over boom or cylinder.

Belt Installation - Disconnect idler spring from deck lug. Slide belt under drive pulley and over idler arm. Position belt around drive pulley. Loosen bolt holding belt guide and swing it away from pulley. Route belt around pulley, idler and pulley. Make sure belt is on drive pulley, route around idler, and connect idler spring to lug on deck. Grasp belt between spindle pulley, spring loaded idler and spindle pulley. Pull spring loaded idler with belt to obtain enough belt length to route it over pulley. Make sure spring-loaded idler pivots freely with belt installed.

Spindle Removal - Remove blade from spindle. Remove belt from pulleys. Remove jam nut and washer from top of spindle shaft. Disassemble split taper bushing (located on top of pulley) by removing the two bolts and washers. Insert bolts into the threaded holes of bushing flange. Tighten bolts alternately to remove split taper bushing. Remove pulley. Remove bolts that attach spindle to mower frame and remove spindle. Remove grease fitting from top of shaft.

Attaching RC2060 Rotary Cutter to John Deere 3038E Tractor with Quick Coupler Hitch - Slowly push hitch control lever to lower hitch until quick coupler hooks are lower than cutter hitch pins. Back up tractor to cutter hitch. Raise hitch high enough to engage cutter hitch pins in hooks. Engage tractor parking brake and/or place transmission in “Park”. Shut off tractor engine and remove key. Start tractor engine. Slowly pull hitch control lever to raise RC2060 Rotary Cutter. Check for interference. Lower cutter to ground and adjust if necessary.

Replacing Blade Pan - Remove the blades. Remove cotter pin from output shaft of the gearbox. Loosen castle nut to the bottom of the output shaft. Do not remove castle nut as it must hold the blade pan when it becomes loose. Tap with a hammer around the hub. Remove castle nut slowly and allow the blade pan to be removed. Remove blade pan.To reinstall blade pan, reverse the above steps. Be sure to tighten the castle nut and replace the cotter pin. Replace blades.
