Attaching Ballast Box to JD 3038R Tractor with Quick Coupler Hitch - Slowly push hitch control lever to lower hitch until quick coupler hooks are lower than ballast box hitch pins. Back up tractor to ballast box. Check spring loaded clips on quick coupler to be sure latches are free and working properly. Make sure latch control levers are down. Slowly pull hitch control lever to engage ballast box hitch pins in quick coupler hooks. Raise ballast box and check for interference. Lower ballast box to ground and adjust if necessary.

Attach H160 Loader - Drive John Deere 3038R tractor slowly, straight into H160 loader. Align masts with mounting frames. Engage tractor parking brake and/or place transmission in PARK. Shut off tractor engine and remove key. Move control lever(s) back and forth and side-to-side (if applicable) several times. Hose connections are identified by matching the color-coded cap on the hose end with the same color-coded plug on the control valve coupler. Connect hoses using color-coded dust caps matching numbers and/or colors on decal by coupler plate. To prevent hose damage, be sure hoses are routed to avoid interference with drag link.

Detach 320R Loader - Remove the ballast box. Be sure that the 320R loader is equipped with a materials bucket. Start the engine. Release the park brake and place the transmission in NEUTRAL. Dump the bucket 10°-20° and lower to the ground. Retract lift cylinders raising the front wheels 25-50 mm (1-2 in) off the ground. Place latches on both sides to the UNLOCKED position by pushing the leaf spring inward and pushing forward on the latch handle. Lift cylinders must be fully extended to raise masts high enough to clear the front wheels. Extend lift cylinders until parking stands contact the ground and masts completely lift off mounting frames. Engage the park brake and place the transmission in PARK. Shut off engine and remove ignition key. Disconnect the hoses at couplers and install dust plugs and caps. Store the hoses on the lift cylinder. Start the engine. Disengage the park brake and place the transmission in REVERSE. Slowly move away from the loader.

Connect Hydraulic Hose for Mower Lift - Connect Hydraulic Hose for SCV Hydraulic Mower Lift - Disconnect all loader SCV hose from SCV ports. Connect the hydraulic mower lift hose to port. Connect Hydraulic Hose for Third Function Mower Lift - Disconnect all loader SCV and third function hose from SCV ports. Connect the third function mower lift hose to the SCV port. When not in use, store the third function lift hose in the storage bracket.

Adjusting Mower Level (Side-to-Side) - Park machine on a flat, level surface. Lock park brake. Disengage mower blades. Raise the mower deck. Turn the height-of-cut control dial until the fifth step on the height of cut cam is oriented towards the bell crank. Lower the mower deck fully. Stop the engine, remove the key, and hang a "DO NOT OPERATE" tag in the operator station. Wait for the engine and all moving parts to stop before leaving the seat. Disconnect the negative (-) battery cable. Measure from the outside blade tip to the level surface. Turn the left blade. Hold drive belt and turn the right blade. Take blade tip-to-surface measurement on both blades. The difference between both measurements must not be greater than specification. Side-to-Side Difference - 3 mm (0.125 in.). To adjust the side-to-side level: Remove the retaining pins from the left and right rear turnbuckles. Adjust one turnbuckle at a time and check the blade level. When adjustment is complete, install the retaining pins.

Assemble Rear Lift Link - If installing kit on tractor with cab, a lock and roll pin must be ordered separately. Tractors with cab: Replace lock on left side of rear link with new lock. Push roll pin in from outside of rear lift link. Roll pin should clear sheet metal tab on new lock. Install two U-brackets on rear lift link with two link pins and adjustable yokes.

Install Hangers (Tractors without Front Hitch) - Tractor with grille guard: Install left hanger on inside of tractor frame with one M12x45 flange head bolt, two M12x65 flange head bolts and three M12 locknuts. Install right hanger. Tractor without grille guard: Install left hanger on inside of tractor frame with three M12x45 flange head bolts and M12 locknuts. Install right hanger. Push bottom of hangers fully rearward and tighten hardware to 130 Nm (96 lb-ft).

Disassembling and Inspecting RC2060 Rotary Cutter Slip Clutch - Remove slip clutch driveline. Loosen bolts and lock nuts progressively until tension is relieved. Friction disks may appear to be part of the hub or yoke, tap lightly on edge to separate. Inspect clutch components for wear or damage. Repair or replace parts as necessary.

Removing and Installing Driveline-Slip Clutch - Disconnect driveline shield chain. Open access panel on shield. Remove driveline assembly from gearbox output shaft by removing 1/2” x 3 1/2” Gr 8 bolt and lock nut. Push driveline onto input shaft toward gearbox and remove snap ring. Pull driveline from gearbox shaft. Make repairs as necessary: Slip clutch service. Driveline repair. Apply multipurpose grease on gearbox input shaft. 1/2” x 3 1/2” Gr 8 bolt and lock nut required to attach driveline to gearbox input shaft. Install driveline in reverse order of removal.
