Attach Bucket or Attachment - Start the engine. Extend bucket cylinders to position the carrier forward. Align holders with hooks. Raise the loader until the carrier engages hooks, then roll back the bucket. Raise the 440R loader high enough to check that straps engage pins on both sides. Shut off the engine. Remove quick-lock pins from the storage position. Install quick-lock pins through bucket pins. Start the engine. Verify that the carrier is fully engaged. Extend bucket cylinders and apply down-pressure on the bucket against the ground. Lower the loader to the ground and shut off the engine. Make sure that both latch handles are up and lock pins are fully retracted. The attaching procedure is the same for all attachments. Raise both latch handles into the UP (unlatched) position. Start the engine and raise the loader off the ground. Extend bucket cylinders to tilt the carrier forward.

Slowly drive forward and raise the loader until carrier plates are positioned under the lip on the bucket. Then roll back the bucket. The bucket rests against carrier plates. Lower the 440R loader completely to the ground and shut off the engine. Lower the latch handles to engage pins with latches on the bucket. Start the engine. Verify that pins are fully engaged in latches. Extend bucket cylinders and apply down-pressure on the bucket against the ground. If the bucket is not securely attached to the skid steer carrier, repeat steps. Lower loader to the ground and shut off the JD 4066R tractor engine. Shut off engine and remove ignition key. Relieve the hydraulic pressure. Push and hold the collar on the female coupler. Insert the male coupler. Release the collar on the female coupler. Connect the cap and plug together. Repeat for the remaining hydraulic hose connections.

Attaching Ballast Box to JD 4066R Tractor with Three-Point Hitch - Back up tractor to ballast box with hitch points approximately in alignment. Engage tractor parking brake and/or place transmission in PARK. Shut off tractor engine and remove key. Attach tractor draft links. Fasten with quick-lock pins (stored on tractor draft links). Align center link with upper hole in ballast box mounting straps and install center link mounting hardware. Start tractor engine. Slowly pull hitch control lever to raise ballast box. Check for interference. Lower hitch to ground and adjust center link and/or lift links if necessary.

Attaching Ballast Box to JD 4066R Tractor with Quick Coupler Hitch - Slowly push hitch control lever to lower hitch until quick coupler hooks are lower than ballast box hitch pins. Back up tractor to ballast box. Check spring loaded clips on quick coupler to be sure latches are free and working properly. Make sure latch control levers are down. Slowly pull hitch control lever to engage ballast box hitch pins in quick coupler hooks. Raise ballast box and check for interference. Lower ballast box to ground and adjust if necessary.
