Massey Ferguson 1020 Periodic Maintenance

Every Ten Hours or Daily

Motor oil level checking. If the oil level is too low, fill in new oil.

Check transmission oil level. When transmission oil is low, add recommended volume.

Checking air filter. Replace if necessary.

Check engine coolant level. If the coolant level is low, top it up.

Check idle engine speed, steering, parking brake and service brakes. If damages are found, repair it.

Every 100 Hours

Replace engine oil. Motor oil type: 10W-30, 15W-40, 20W-40. Oil system capacity: 4.0 qt (3.7 L). Add oil to the upper mark on the dipstick.

Replace oil filter. Oil filter part number: 72118856. Clean the filter housing from dirt before replacing the filter element. After replacing the filter, check the oil level. Add oil if required.

Inspect all tires. Inflate tires if necessary.

Check battery charge. Charge the battery if necessary.

Check front axle oil level. Fill as required.

Check oil level in the hydraulic tank. Add oil to hydraulic system if necessary.

Lubricate rear and front axle hub bearings.

Tighten wheel nuts and bolts.

Every 200 hours

Change engine fuel filter. Fuel filter element part number: 3608255M1. Check diesel fuel pump operation.

Transmission/hydraulic fluid change. Recommended oil - Permatran 821XL, SAE 10W-30. How much to add: Oil Capacity - 6 gal (23 L). Fill with the new transmission/hydraulic oil up to the upper notch on the dipstick.

Replace filter in hydraulic system. Hydraulic filter part number: 3435446M1 (Spin-on). Change if required or annually. Check the hydraulic oil level after installing a new filter element. If after checking the hydraulic oil level is low, add it.

Front axle fluid change (4WD MF 1020 tractors). Oil Type - Permatran. Front Axle Oil Capacity - 2.44 qt (2.3 L).

Inspect the air filter and clean if necessary.

Clean the radiator with a brush if the fins are dirty.

Check fan/alternator belt tension. Adjust as required.

Check wheel bolt torque.

Every 500 Hours

Replacing air filter elements. Air filter element part number: 3281825M1.

Check the coolant in radiator. Add coolant if necessary.

Check engine idling. Adjust engine idle as required.

Check and tighten the hoses and hose clamps.

Adjust parking and service brakes.

Hydraulic Filter. Part Number: 3435446M1

Change filter and engine oil. Service oil system components.

Change air cleaner elements.

Install a new transmission filter and fill with fresh oil.

Replace hydraulic filter and fluid.

Replace the fuel filter, but drain water from fuel tank first.

Clean radiator and oil cooler fins.

Flush the cooling system and refill with new coolant. Cooling System Capacity - 4.4 qt (4.0 L).

Check all clamps hoses and hoses.

Check level of battery electrolyte.

Adjust engine valve clearance.

Check and adjust fuel injection nozzle.
