Massey Ferguson 1085 Periodic Maintenance

Every 10 Hours or Daily

Engine oil level checking procedure. If the oil level is too low, fill in new oil.

Check the transmission fluid level. If transmission oil is too low, fill in new oil.

Check air filter. Replace with a new one if necessary.

Check engine coolant level. If the coolant level is low, add it.

Check idle engine speed, steering system, service brakes and parking brake. If damages are found, repair it.

Every 50 Hours

Inspect tires and check inflation pressure. If required, add air to tires.

Check battery charge. Charge the battery if necessary.

Check front axle oil level. Add oil if necessary.

Checking hydraulic fluid in system. Add oil to hydraulic system if necessary.

Lubricate front and rear axle hub bearings.

Inspect the front and rear wheels. Tighten bolts and nuts as required.

Every 200 hours

Changing engine oil. Motor oil type: 10W-30, 15W-40, 20W-40. How much to fill: Engine Oil Capacity - 10.0 qt (9.5 L). Check motor oil level after changing.

Changing oil filter. Oil filter part number: 1447048M2 / 1882916M91 (Element). Before replacing, remove dirt from the filter housing. When the filter is replaced, check the oil level. If necessary, add it.

Clean radiator surface from dirt.

Inspect alternator/fan belt. Replace if necessary.

Check the torque of the wheel bolts.

Every 500 Hours

Change diesel fuel filter. Fuel filter part number - 836218V92. Check the efficiency of fuel injection pump.

Check cooling system for leaks. If coolant is low, top up.

Check engine low idle speed. Adjust if necessary.

Check the hoses and tubes. Tighten as required.

Front axle oil change.

Check and adjust the brake system components.

Every 750 Hours

Transmission/hydraulic fluid change. Recommended hydraulic/transmission fluid: Permatran 821XL, SAE 10W-30. Transmission/hydraulic oil capacity: 8.5 gal (32.2 L). Check transmission oil level after changing.

Replace filter element in hydraulic system. Hydraulic filter element part number - 535040M1 (Auxiliary Hydraulics), 1687042V91/1871933M91 (Lift Pump). When the filter element is replaced, check the hydraulic fluid level. If after checking the hydraulic fluid level is low, add it.

Replace steering filter in steering system. Part number - 1039660M1 (Strainer). Change the oil. Steering Oil Capacity - 3.0 qt (2.7 L).

Check the cab air filter. Part number: 529760M1. Change if necessary.

Engine Primary air filter elements changing. Air filter part number - 1042216M92.

Perform inspection and replacement of the secondary air filter. Part number - 1039045M92.

Replace filter and engine oil. Service oil system components.

Replace primary and secondary air cleaner elements.

Change the fuel filter by first drain water from fuel tank.

Clean oil cooler fins and radiator.

Drain, flush and refill cooling system. Cooling System Capacity - 16.5 qt (15.6 L).

Inspect all hoses and clamps.

Check battery electrolyte level.

Adjust engine valve clearance.

Check and adjust injector pump.
