Massey Ferguson 1220 Periodic Maintenance

Every Ten Hours or Daily

Engine oil level checking procedure. If the oil level is too low, add new oil.

Check the transmission fluid level. When the transmission fluid is low, fill the required volume.

Check air filter. Change if required.

Check the coolant level. If the coolant level is low, top it up.

Check idle engine speed, steering, hand brake and service brakes. Repair any damage if necessary.

Every 150 Hours

Replace engine oil. Engine oil type - 10W-30, 15W-40, 20W-40. How much to fill: Engine Oil Capacity - 3.3 qt (3.1 L). Fill with the new oil up to the upper notch on the dipstick.

Oil filter changing. Engine oil filter part number: 72201898. Flush the filter housing before the filter element replacement procedure. When installation is complete, check the oil level. If required, add it.

Check tire inflation pressure. Add air to tires if necessary.

Test battery charging. If the charge level is low, charge the battery.

Checking the oil in front axle. Add if required.

Check hydraulic oil level. If necessary, add hydraulic oil to the system.

Lubricate the rear and front wheel bearings.

Tighten wheel nuts and bolts.

Every 200 hours

Replace transmission/hydraulic oil. Transmission/hydraulic fluid type - Permatran 821XL, SAE 10W-30. Transmission/hydraulic oil capacity: 10.5 qt (10.1 L). After changing the transmission oil, check the level with a dipstick.

Hydraulic fluid filter replacement. Oil filter part number: 3709215M1 (Spin-on) for Manual Transmission and 3609567M1 (Spin-on) for Hydrostatic Transmission. When installation is complete, check the transmission/hydraulic fluid level. Add transmission/hydraulic oil if it is low.

Perform inspection and cleaning of the air filter.

Clean radiator fins from dirt.

Check alternator/fan belt for wear. If necessary replace it.

Check wheel bolt torque.

Every 300 Hours

Change engine air filter elements. Air filter part number - 3710898M91.

Replace fuel filter. Fuel filter part number - 3608255M1. Check diesel fuel pump adjustment.

Replace steering filter element and change oil. Steering filter element part number - 3709106M91. Steering Oil Type - Permatran. Steering Oil Capacity - 1.2 qt (1.1 L).

Check the coolant in radiator. Top up if required.

Check engine idling. If necessary, adjust the idle speed on the engine.

Inspect all fittings and hoses. Tighten as recommended.

Change front axle oil. Front Axle Oil Type - Permatran. Front Axle Oil Capacity - 4.2 qt (4.1 L).

Adjust parking and service brakes.

Change engine oil and filter. Service lubricating system components.

Install a new air filter elements.

Replace hydraulic filter.

Change hydraulic/transmission.

Drain water from fuel tank, then change the fuel filter.

Clean radiator and oil cooler fins.

Flush the cooling system and add fresh coolant. Cooling System Capacity - 5.4 qt (5.1 L).

Inspect all clamps hoses and hoses.

Check battery electrolyte level.

Adjust engine valve clearance.

Inspect and adjust fuel injectors.
