Massey Ferguson 255 Periodic Maintenance

Every Ten Hours or Daily

Check motor oil level. If the engine oil level is low, add fresh oil.

Check the hydraulic/transmission oil level. When hydraulic/transmission oil is low, add recommended volume.

Checking engine primary/secondary air filters. Change if required.

Check coolant level in radiator. If the coolant level is low, add it.

Check engine speed, steering system, service brakes and hand brake. Repair any damage if necessary.

Every 50 Hours

Check tire pressure. If necessary, inflate the tires.

Check battery charge. Charge the battery if necessary.

Checking the oil in front axle. Fill as required.

Check oil level in the hydraulic tank. Fill the hydraulic system as required.

Lubricate the front axle bearing assembly.

Check tractor for loose or lost nuts and screws.

Every 200 hours

Engine oil change. Motor oil type: SAE 20, 20W. API service classification SB, SE, CA, CC. How much to pour - Engine Oil Capacity: Gas - 8.0 qt (7.8 L) and Diesel - 8.5 qt (8 L). Check motor oil level after changing.

Changing oil filter. Oil filter part number: 1447048M2 (Gas), 1447082M2 (Perkins AD4.203 Diesel). When change the filter, cleaning the housing is required. Check the oil level after installing a new filter. If necessary, add oil.

Engine air filter elements checking. Replace as required. Engine primary air filter part number: 1094056M91. Engine secondary air filter part number: 1094269M91.

Change engine fuel filter. Engine fuel filter part number: 521251M92 (Gas), 189287M91 (Diesel).

Inspect cab air filter. Replace as required. Cab air filter part number: 1902803M91.

Clean the radiator grill from dust and dirt.

Inspect the fan/alternator belt and adjust the belt tension as required.

Check the tightening torque of the wheel bolts.

Every 500 Hours

Changing steering oil filter. Steering fluid filter part number: 1662566V1. After installation, checking the steering oil level is recommended. Add oil if it is low. Steering Oil Capacity - 1.0 qt (0.9 L).

Check the coolant in cooling system. Top up if coolant is low.

Inspect all hoses and tubes. Tighten as required.

Check and adjust the brake system components.

Every 750 Hours

Change transmission/hydraulic fluid. Transmission/hydraulic fluid type - Permatran 821XL, SAE 10W-30, M-1129. Transmission/Hydraulic Oil Capacity - 8 gal (30.3 L). Check transmission/hydraulic oil level after replacement.

Replace hydraulic filter. Hydraulic filter element part number - 1053870M91/1060005M92 (Spin-on), 1687042V91 (Lift Pump), 535040M1 (Auxiliary Hyd.). When installation procedure is complete, check the transmission/hydraulic oil level. If necessary, add it.

Front axle fluid change. Front Axle Oil - Permatran.

Check engine idle speed. Adjust if necessary.

Change engine oil and filter. Check and clean the oil system.

Install a new engine air cleaner elements.

Install a new steering filter.

Change steering fluid.

Change hydraulic/transmission fluid.

Change hydraulic filter.

Replace the fuel filter, but drain water from fuel tank first.

Clean radiator and oil cooler fins.

Drain, flush and refill cooling system. Cooling System Capacity - 11 qt (10.5 L).

Check all clamps hoses and hoses.

Check level of battery electrolyte.

Check and adjust valve clearance.
