Massey Ferguson 88 Service Intervals

Every Ten Hours or Daily

Check the engine oil level. If after checking the oil level is low, add it.

Transmission oil level checking procedure. When transmission oil is low, fill in new oil.

Checking air filter element. Change if necessary.

Check radiator coolant level. If the coolant level is low, add it.

Check engine speed, steering unit, service brakes and hand brake. If you found a problem, fix it.

Every 50 Hours

Check tire pressure. If necessary, inflate the tires.

Test battery charging. If the charge level is low, charge the battery.

Check front axle oil level. Add oil if necessary.

Check hydraulic system fluid level. Fill as required.

Lubricate the rear and front wheel bearings.

Check tractor for lost or loose screws and nuts.

Every 100 hours

Engine oil change. Engine oil type - 10W-30, 15W-40, 20W-40. Oil capacity: 7.0 qt (6.6 L) for gasoline and LP engine, 10 qt (9.65 L) for diesel engine. When the procedure is complete, check the engine oil level.

Change engine oil filter element. Filter part number - 835817V91 (Gas and LP) and 704945 (Diesel). When changing the filter, clean the dirt inside the filter housing. After replacing the filter, check the oil level. If required, add it.

Clean radiator surface from dirt.

Inspect the fan/alternator belt and adjust the belt tension as required.

Check the tightening torque of the front and rear hub bolts.

Every 500 Hours

Replace primary and secondary fuel filters for diesel engine. Primary fuel filter part number: 1850450V2. Secondary fuel filter part number: 1012006V2. Clean sediment bowl for gasoline engines. Part number: 193995V92.

Check radiator coolant. If coolant is low, top up.

Check engine idle. Adjust engine idle as required.

Inspect all tubes and hoses. Tighten as recommended.

Front axle oil change.

Adjust service and parking brakes.

Every 750 Hours

Replace transmission/hydraulic oil. Recommended fluid: Permatran 821XL, SAE 10W-30. Transmission/hydraulic system capacity: 11.5 gal (43.5 L). After installing a new filter, check that the transmission/hydraulic fluid level is correct.

Perform hydraulic filter element replacement. Hydraulic filter element part number - 521451M1. After installing a new filter, check the hydraulic fluid level. If required, add it.

Replace the steering filter element. Part number - 185541M2.

Check and service air filter element for Gas engines. Air filter part number - 185857M91.

Change engine oil and filter. Check and clean the lubrication system.

Change air filter element.

Replace hydraulic/transmission fluid.

Install a new hydraulic filter.

Check and change steering filter.

Drain water from fuel tank, then change the fuel filter.

Clean radiator and oil cooler fins.

Flush the cooling system and refill with new coolant. Cooling System Capacity - 15.0 qt (14.2 L)

Check all hoses and clamps.

Check and service the battery.

Adjust engine valve clearance.

Check and adjust fuel injection nozzle/carburetor.
