Ford 4000 Maintenance Information

Ford 4000 Periodic Maintenance

Every 10 Hours or Daily Inspection

Engine oil level checking procedure. If the engine oil level is low, add fresh oil.

Transmission/hydraulic oil level checking procedure. When transmission/hydraulic oil is low, fill in new oil.

Engine air filter checking. Change if required.

Check radiator coolant level. If the coolant level is low, top it up.

Check idle engine speed, steering, service brakes and parking brake. If malfunctions are found, repair it.

Oil And Filter Change

Every 300 Hours

Engine oil change. Recommended motor oil: SAE 15W-40, 10W-30, SAE 10W. How much to add: Engine Oil Capacity - 7.7 qt (7.3 L). After filling, check the engine oil level with a dipstick.

Replace engine oil filter. Filter part number - 86546608 or CFPN6731B (Cartridge) / 86546614 or E8NN6714AA (Spin-On). Before replacement procedure, clean the filter housing from dirt. When installation is complete, check the oil level. If required, add it.

Engine air filter element checking. Clean as required.

Inspect and service the engine fuel filter.

Lubricate the rear and front wheel bearings.

Every 600 Hours

Replacing air filter element. Engine air filter part number - E6NNR500DA or E6NN9B618AA.

Changing steering oil. Recommended fluid type - 134D, Gearlube LS 80W-90. Steering oil capacity: 2 qt (1.9 L). After filling check the steering oil level with a dipstick.

Replace steering filter element. Part number of power steering filter: C7NN3N538A or EDPN3K758A. When installation procedure is complete, check the steering oil level. Add oil if required.

Every 1200 Hours

Replace fuel filter. Fuel filter element part number: 86546599 or EDPN9N074AA (Diesel). Check the correct operation of fuel injection pump.

Changing transmission oil. Recommended transmission fluid type - 134D, SAE 10W-30. Transmission oil capacity: 3.3 gal (12.5 L) with 8-Speed, 3.1 gal (11.6 L) with Select-O-Speed. After filling check the transmission oil level with a dipstick.

Changing transmission oil filter. Oil filter part number: 309735 or C0NN7B155A (Select-O-Speed). When installation is complete, check the transmission fluid level. If necessary, add it.

Replace hydraulic filter element. Part number of hydraulic filter: 84277192 or C5NNN832B. When installation procedure is complete, check the hydraulic oil level. Add oil if required.

Change hydraulic oil. Recommended hydraulic fluid type - 134D, SAE 10W-30. Hydraulic oil capacity: 8.9 gal (33.9 L).

Front axle lubricant change. Front Axle Oil Type - 134D, Gearlube 80W-90. Front Axle Capacity - 1.5 qt (1.4 L).

Replace filter and engine oil. Check and clean the oil system.

Change air cleaner element.

Replace transmission filter.

Replace hydraulic filter.

Change hydraulic fluid.

Change transmission fluid.

Replace power steering filter.

Change steering oil.

Replace the fuel filter by first drain water from fuel tank.

Clean radiator and oil cooler fins.

Drain, flush and refill engine cooling system. Cooling System Capacity - 14 qt (13.2 L).

Inspect all clamps hoses and hoses.

Check and service the battery.

Check and adjust valve clearance.

Check and adjust fuel injection nozzle.
