John Deere 2550 Periodic Maintenance

Every 10 Hours or Daily

Check motor oil level. If after checking the oil level is low, add it.

Transmission fluid level checking. When transmission oil is low, fill in new oil.

Check coolant level in radiator. If the coolant level is too low, add coolant in cooling system.

Check idle engine speed, steering unit, parking brake and service brakes. If damages are found, repair it.

Every 50 Hours

Inspect front and rear tires. If required, inflate the tires.

Check battery charge. Charge the battery if necessary.

Checking the oil in front axle. Fill as required.

Check cab recirculation air filter R65450. Replace if required.

Check cab recirculation air filter L38598. Replace if required.

Checking hydraulic fluid in system. If necessary, add hydraulic fluid to the system.

Lubricate the front axle wheel bearings.

Inspect tractor for loose nuts and bolts.

Every 250 hours

Check and clean the primary air filter. Engine primary air filter part number - AR84228. Clean as required. Replace primary air filter if air cleaner indicator light continues to glow.

Check secondary air filter. Engine air filter part number: AE31724. Never clean. Replace at every third change of primary air filter.

Clean radiator fins from dirt.

Check alternator/fan belt tension. Adjust as required.

Check the tightening torque of the front and rear hub bolts.

Every 500 Hours

Replace engine oil. Recommended oil type: Plus-50 or SAE 15W-40, classification CD, CC, SD. How much is required - 8.5 L (2.25 gal). Add oil to the upper mark on the dipstick.

Engine oil filter replacement. Oil filter part number: T19044. When change the filter, cleaning the housing is recommended. After replacing the filter, check the oil level. Add oil if necessary. Replace after first 100 hours, then after first 500 hours and every 500 hours.

Change transmission/hydraulic fluid. Recommended oil type: Hy-Gard. How much to pour: for Collarshift transmission - 33.0 L (8.7 gal), for Synchronized transmission - 50.0 L (13.2 gal). Fill with the new transmission/hydraulic fluid up to the upper notch on the dipstick.

Replace transmission/hydraulic oil filter. Transmission fluid filter part number - AR75603. After installing a new filter, check the transmission/hydraulic fluid level. If after checking the transmission oil level is low, add it. Replace after first 50 hours, then after first 500 hours and every 500 hours.

Replace hydraulic return flow filter. Hydraulic filter part number: AL56469 / RE34958. After replacing the filter, check the hydraulic oil level. Add fluid if necessary. Replace after first 50 hours, and every 500 hours.

Replace fuel filter. Fuel filter part number - AR50041. Check diesel fuel pump performance.

Check cooling system for leaks. Top up if coolant is low.

Check engine idle speeds. If necessary, adjust the idle speed on the engine.

Inspect all hoses and tubes. Tighten as required.

Front axle lubricant change.

Check and adjust the parking and service brakes.

Check all hoses and clamps.

Check battery charge.

Adjust engine valve clearance.

Inspect and adjust diesel injection pump.
