John Deere 4010 Maintenance Intervals

Every 10 Hours or Daily

Check engine oil level. If the engine oil level is low, add fresh oil.

Check the transmission fluid level. When the transmission fluid is low, fill the required volume.

Check air filter element. Change if necessary.

Check the coolant level in cooling system. If the coolant level is low, top it up.

Check engine idle speed, steering unit, service brakes and parking brake. Repair any damage if required.

Every 50 Hours

Check tire air pressure. Inflate tires if required.

Check battery condition. Charge or replace.

Checking the oil in front axle. Fill as required.

Check hydraulic system fluid level. Add if required.

Lubricate the rear and front wheel bearings.

Tighten wheel bolts and nuts.

Every 250 hours

Engine oil change. Recommended engine oil type: SAE 20 API, classification DC or Torq-Gard. John Deere 4010 engine oil capacity: 7.6 L (8 qts). When the procedure is complete, check the engine oil level.

Changing oil filter. Filter part number - AR26350. Replace every 250 hours, before and after winter season, and each time oil is changed. Before replacing, remove dirt from the filter housing. When the filter is replaced, check the oil level. Add oil if required.

Transmission/hydraulic fluid change. Recommended oil - Hy-Gard or Special 303. How much is needed - 41.6 L (11 gal). After filling, check the hydraulic/transmission fluid level with a dipstick.

Change transmission oil filter. Transmission oil filter part number: AR75603. Replace after initial 250 hours, then every 600 hours. When the filter is replaced, check the transmission oil level. Add fluid if required.

Change filter element in hydraulic system. Hydraulic filter part number: R27173. Clean valve filter every 1200 hours. When the filter is replaced, check the hydraulic oil level. Add hydraulic fluid if it is low.

Inspect the air filter element and clean if necessary.

Clean radiator fins from dirt.

Inspect and adjust alternator/fan belt. If the belt is worn, change it.

Check wheel bolt torque.

Every 400 Hours

Replace engine fuel filter. Engine fuel filter part number: AR44077. Replace first stage filter every 600 hours. Check the correct operation of fuel injection pump.

Check the coolant in cooling system. Top up if required.

Check engine low idle speed. Adjust if necessary.

Check the hoses and fittings. Tighten as required.

Change front axle lubricant.

Adjust service and parking brakes.

Change engine oil and filter. Check and clean the oil system.

Replace air filter elements.

Replace transmission filter and fluid.

Replace hydraulic filter and oil.

Change the fuel filter by first drain water from fuel tank.

Clean oil cooler fins and radiator.

Drain, flush and refill cooling system. Cooling system capacity: 15 L (4 gal). Coolant type - Cool-Gard II.

Check all clamps hoses and hoses.

Check battery charging.

Adjust engine valve clearance.

Inspect and adjust diesel fuel pump.
