John Deere 4050 Periodic Maintenance

Every 10 Hours or Daily

Motor oil level checking. If after checking the engine oil level is low, top it up.

Transmission/hydraulic fluid level checking. When the transmission/hydraulic fluid is low, add fresh oil.

Engine air filters checking. Replace with a new one if necessary.

Check engine coolant level. If the coolant level is low, add it.

Check idle engine speed, steering system, service brakes and hand brake. Repair any malfunctions if necessary.

Every 50 Hours

Checking the air pressure of tyres. Inflate if required.

Inspect the battery. Clean the terminals as required.

Check front axle oil level. Add if required.

Check the oil level in hydraulic system. If necessary, add hydraulic fluid to the system.

Lubricate front and rear axle hub bearings.

Check tightness of wheel screws and nuts.

Every 200 hours

Engine oil change. Recommended motor oil type - Torq-Gard, SAE 15W-40, 10W-30. API Service Category CD, CC, SD. How much to add: Oil System Capacity - 17 L (4.5 gal). After installing a new filter, check that the engine oil level is correct.

Engine oil filter replacement. Oil filter part number: RE57394 (6466 Engine) or T19044 (6359 Engine). Before installing a new filter, clean the filter housing from clogging. When the filter is replaced, check the oil level. If necessary, add it.

Check cab recirculation air filter. Replace annually and as required. Air filter part number - RE12793.

Inspect cab fresh air filter. Replace as required or annually. Part number - R65450.

Inspect the alternator/fan belt and adjust the belt tension if necessary.

Check the torque of the wheel bolts.

Every 400 Hours

Inspect engine primary air filter. Clean as required. Replace annually and as required. Part number: AR79941/AR79679.

Check engine secondary air filter. Service as required. Replace annually and as required. Part number: AR79680/AR79942.

Check engine fuel filter. Replace as required. Fuel filter part number - AR50041.

Clean radiator grill from dirt.

Every 600 Hours

Change transmission/hydraulic fluid. Recommended fluid type: Hy-Gard. Transmission/Hydraulic Fluid Capacity with Power Shift Transmission - 51 L (13.5 gal), with Quad-Range Transmission - 60.5 L (16 gal). After adding transmission/hydraulic fluid, check the level with a dipstick.

Replacing transmission/hydraulic oil filter. Oil filter part number: AR94510. Check the transmission/hydraulic fluid level after installing a new filter. Add fluid if required.

Check engine idling. Adjust if necessary.

Inspect all hoses and fittings. Tighten as recommended.

Change front axle oil. Front Axle Capacity: 8.5 L (9 qt). Front Axle Oil Type: GL-5 Gear Lubricant, 85W-140.

Check and adjust the parking and service brakes.

Every 1200 Hours

Replace transmission/hydraulic charge pump suction screen. Part number - R53169/AR26375.

Replace transmission/hydraulic return oil manifold screen. Part number - R27173.

Check the coolant in cooling system. Top up if coolant is low.

Replace the fuel filter by first drain water from fuel tank.

Clean or replace cab air filters.

Clean radiator and oil cooler fins.

Flush the cooling system and add new coolant. Cooling System Capacity: 25.6 L (6.8 gal).

Inspect all hoses and clamps.

Check and service the battery.

Check engine valve clearance.

Inspect and adjust fuel injection nozzle.
