John Deere 4600 Maintenance Information

John Deere 4600 Service Intervals

Every 10 Hours or Daily

Motor oil level checking. If the engine oil level is low, add fresh oil.

Check the hydraulic/transmission oil level. When the hydraulic/transmission fluid is low, fill the required volume.

Engine primary and secondary air filter checking. Install a new filters if required.

Check the coolant level. If the coolant level is too low, fill the system.

Check engine speed, steering, service brakes and hand brake. Repair any malfunctions if necessary.

Every 50 Hours

Inspect front and rear tires. If required, inflate the tires.

Check the battery. Clean battery terminals if necessary.

Check front axle oil level. Fill as required.

Check the oil in hydraulic tank. Fill as required.

Lubricate front and rear axle hub bearings.

Inspect tractor for loose nuts and bolts.

Every 200 hours

Change engine oil. Engine oil type - Plus-50, SAE 15W-40, 10W-30, 5W-30. API Service Classification SG or higher. How much is needed: Oil System Capacity - 4.8 L (1.26 gal). When the procedure is complete, check the engine oil level.

Replacing engine oil filter. Oil filter part number: M806419. Before replacement procedure, clean the filter housing from dirt. After installing a new filter, check the oil level. If necessary, add oil.

Transmission/hydraulic oil change. Recommended oil type - Low Viscosity Hy-Gard, JDM J20D or J20C. Transmission/Hydraulic System Capacity: Gear Transmission - 26 L (6.9 gal), Hydrostatic Transmission - 33.2 L (8.8 gal). After adding transmission/hydraulic fluid, check the level with a dipstick.

Replacing transmission/hydraulic fluid filter. Fluid filter part number - LVA10419. When installation is complete, check the transmission/hydraulic oil level. If required, add it.

Clean radiator surface from dirt.

Inspect and adjust alternator/fan belt. Change if belt is worn.

Check wheel bolt torque.

Every 500 Hours

Engine air filter elements checking. Replace as required. Engine primary air filter part number: M131802. Engine secondary air filter part number: M131803.

Change fuel filter. Engine fuel filter part number: T111383. Check injection pump adjustments.

Check cooling system for leaks. Add coolant if necessary.

Check engine idle speed. If necessary, adjust the engine idle speed.

Check the tubes and hoses. Tighten as required.

Change front axle lubricant. Front Axle Oil Type - Low Viscosity Hy-Gard. Front Axle Capacity - 7.8 L (2.07 gal).

Adjust service and parking brakes.

Annually

Change filter and engine oil. Check and clean the oil system.

Change engine air cleaner elements.

Change transmission/hydraulic filter and transmission/hydraulic fluid.

Drain water from fuel tank, then replace the fuel filter.

Clean radiator and oil cooler fins.

Flush the cooling system and add fresh coolant. Cooling System Capacity - 7.2 L (1.9 gal).

Inspect all hoses and clamps.

Check level of battery electrolyte.

Check engine valve clearance.

Inspect and adjust fuel injectors.
